Analysis of unsteady viscous dissipative poiseuille fluid flow of two-step exothermic chemical reaction through a porous channel with convective cooling

open access: yesAin Shams Engineering Journal, 2019
In this study, the viscous dissipation of heat transfer of poiseuille fluid flow of two-step exothermic chemical reaction through a porous channel is investigated under different chemical kinetics.

Desert Plant Inspired Hierarchical Nanofibrous Membranes for Integrated Solar Desalination and Heavy Metal Remediation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An Alhagi maurorum inspired hierarchical composite membrane (NFCu) was developed by integrating heavy metal remediation and solar‐driven interfacial evaporation in a single platform. Beyond the photothermal effect, a localized photocatalytic process is realized on the CuO surface, deepening the mechanistic understanding of light–matter–water ...

Persistence of sulfentrazone in soil under soybean and its carryover effect on bioindicators

open access: yesActa Agriculturae Scandinavica. Section B, Soil and Plant Science, 2017
To assess the persistence and dissipation kinetics of sulfentrazone in soil, terminal residues in soybean and carryover effect on bioindicator species, field experiment was carried out under Indian tropical conditions.

Adsorption model for multi-component heavy metal ions on clay based on non-equilibrium thermodynamics

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao, 2019
The adsorption behavior of clay particles is the key factor to control the solute transport, which can further affect the accurate evaluation of the long-term service performance of the seepage prevention barrier. Based on the single-component adsorption

Self‐Assembled Crystalline Peptoid Nanomaterials as Metal‐Free Enzyme Mimics for Enhanced Carbon Dioxide Hydration and Precipitation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Inspired by metal‐free carbonic anhydrases (CAs) that achieve efficient catalysis without metal cofactors, we herein report a sequence‐defined supramolecular peptoid platform that mimics metal‐free CAs and exhibits hydrolytic activity via a supramolecular assembly‐mediated proton‐transfer mechanism.

Deciphering the Photopolymerization‐Induced Nanostructures and Interface Formation for Submicrometer Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work reveals the UV‐curing‐induced monomer‐rich domain, oligomer‐rich domain, and entangled oligomer domain. The cured submicron films in stressed state induce interlayer nano‐wrinkle structures during the deposition of the second layer. Stress‐free cured films in relaxed state form non‐diffusive, diffusive and semi‐diffusive interlayer ...

Dissipation Bounds Precision of Current Response to Kinetic Perturbations

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters
The precision of currents in Markov networks is bounded by dissipation via the so-called thermodynamic uncertainty relation (TUR). In our work, we demonstrate a similar inequality that bounds the precision of the static current response to perturbations of kinetic barriers.

Genetically Programmed Shape‐Morphing of Engineered Living Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Here, bacterial and mammalian engineered living materials (ELMs) are presented, in which living cells direct genetically programmed and enzymatically mediated shape‐morphing. The resulting deformation and shape‐recovery can be actuated in a genetically controlled manner by an ELM incorporating out‐of‐equilibrium counteracting biochemical reactions with

Effect of biochar on soil microbial community, dissipation and uptake of chlorpyrifos and atrazine

open access: yesBiochar
For the application of biochar in restoring pesticide-contaminated soils and minimizing the risk associated with their uptake in plants, it is crucial to understand the biochar impact on soil biological activities and dissipation and accumulation of ...

Heating of the low-latitude solar wind by dissipation of turbulent magnetic fluctuations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We test a theory presented previously to account for the turbulent transport of magnetic fluctuation energy in the solar wind and the related dissipation and heating of the ambient ion population. This theory accounts for the injection of magnetic energy
