Enhancing Corrosion Resistance and Mechanical Strength of 3D‐Printed Iron Polylactic Acid for Marine Applications via Laser Surface Texturing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Laser surface texturing significantly improves the corrosion resistance and mechanical strength of 3D‐printed iron polylactic acid (Ir‐PLA) for marine applications. Optimal laser parameters reduce corrosion by 80% and enhance tensile strength by 25% and ductility by 15%.

Evaluation of the Potential of Laser Shock Peening Compared with Cold Expansion for Improving Fatigue Resistance of Riveted Lap Joints of Aerospace Grade 7175 Al Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates laser shock peening for enhancing fatigue performance of riveted aerospace aluminum joints. A comparative approach with cold expansion combines fatigue testing and synchrotron X‐ray methods. Integrating mechanical testing with residual stress and strain characterization provides insights into how different treatments affect the ...

Symmetry of Open Quantum Systems: Classification of Dissipative Quantum Chaos

open access: yesPRX Quantum, 2023
We develop a theory of symmetry in open quantum systems. Using the operator-state mapping, we characterize symmetry of Liouvillian superoperators for the open quantum dynamics by symmetry of operators in the double Hilbert space and apply the 38-fold ...

Evolution governed by “generalized“ dissipative operators

open access: yesProceedings of the Japan Academy, Series A, Mathematical Sciences, 1992
The authors consider the Cauchy problem (P) \(u'(t)\in Au(t)+f(t)\), \(t\in[0,T]\); \(u(0)=x\) is a Banach space \((X,|\cdot|)\) under the assumption that \(f\in L^ 1(0,T;X)\) and the multivalued operator \(A: D(A)\subset X\to X\) satisfy the condition: there exists \(\omega: \mathbb{R}_ +\to\mathbb{R}\) such that \(\omega(0)=0\) and problem \(r'(t ...

Quantum Magnetic Impurities in Magnetically Ordered Systems

open access: yes, 2003
We discuss the problem of a spin 1/2 impurity immersed in a spin S magnetically ordered background. We show that the problem maps onto a generalization of the dissipative two level system (DTLS) with two independent heat baths, associated with the ...

Process‐Informed Analysis of As‐Built Metal Additive Surface Features

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article introduces a novel method for feature‐based surface texture characterisation directly incorporating manufacturing variables into the feature extraction workflow. This marks a major step towards identifying process‐specific surface properties and their influence on part function and hence a holistic understanding of process–structure ...

LOCAL EXISTENCE AND GLOBAL NONEXISTENCE FOR A SYSTEM f OF NONLINEAR WAVE EQUATIONS WITH p-LAPLACIAN OPERATOR

open access: yesPesquimat, 2014
We consider a mixed problem for a system of nonlinear wave equations with p-Laplacian operator and with dissipative strong term. We prove the local existence of solutions by Galerkin method and blow-up of' solutions by the energy method.

Operator growth in open quantum systems: lessons from the dissipative SYK

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2023
We study the operator growth in open quantum systems with dephasing dissipation terms, extending the Krylov complexity formalism of [1]. Our results are based on the study of the dissipative q-body Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev (SYK q ) model, governed by the ...

On the stability of the infinite Projected Entangled Pair Operator ansatz for driven-dissipative 2D lattices

open access: yesSciPost Physics Core, 2021
We present calculations of the time-evolution of the driven-dissipative XYZ model using the infinite Projected Entangled Pair Operator (iPEPO) method, introduced by [A. Kshetrimayum, H. Weimer and R. Orús, Nat. Commun. 8, 1291 (2017)].

Quantum stochastic differential equations for boson and fermion systems -- Method of Non-Equilibrium Thermo Field Dynamics

open access: yes, 2003
A unified canonical operator formalism for quantum stochastic differential equations, including the quantum stochastic Liouville equation and the quantum Langevin equation both of the It\^o and the Stratonovich types, is presented within the framework of
