Relationship between Dissociative Experiences and Schizotypal Personality Traits: Mediating Role of Inferential Confusion

open access: yesIranian Journal of Psychiatry, 2021
Objective: Previous research has shown a relationship between schizotypal personality traits and dissociative tendencies. The Inference-Based Approach (IBA) can explain this relationship to some extent.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Dysregulation in cortical reactivity to emotional faces in PTSD patients with high dissociation symptoms

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Psychotraumatology, 2013
Background: Predominant dissociation in posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is characterized by restricted affective responses to positive stimuli. To date, no studies have examined neural responses to a range of emotional expressions in PTSD with high ...

Prevalence of Dissociative Convulsions in Patients with Dissociative Disorder in a Tertiary Care Hospital: A Descriptive Cross-sectional Study

open access: yesJournal of Nepal Medical Association, 2019
Introduction: Dissociative disorder is one of the common psychiatric problems encountered very frequently in the hospital setting. The aim of the study is to find out the prevalence of dissociative convulsions type in patients suffering from dissociative

Biomarkers of dissociation

open access: yesBJPsych Open, 2023
Summary Dissociative symptoms present transdiagnostically and are related to poor clinical outcome. Research into the biological correlates of dissociation remains limited. This editorial summarises and discusses papers from this themed series of BJPsych Open that contribute to unravelling the biological correlates of dissociative symptomatology ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Effectiveness of trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy on quality of trauma-related memory, dissociative experiences, and body image dissatisfaction in adolescents with complex post-traumatic stress disorder: A randomized controlled clinical trial

open access: yesJournal of Education and Health Promotion
BACKGROUND: Repeated or prolonged experience of trauma can lead to complex post-traumatic stress disorder (CPTSD). This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) on the quality of trauma-related ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.
