Dissociative electron attachment to benzoic acid (C7H6O2)
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2020The dissociative electron attachment (DEA) to benzoic acid (C6H5COOH) has been studied using an experimental crossed beam setup of a quadrupole mass spectrometer and a trochoidal electron monochromator. Relative partial cross sections for the DEA to produce negative ion fragments show the main channels for dissociation.

Dissociative electron attachment to SO2
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1986The total rate constant ka(〈ε〉,T) for dissociative electron attachment to SO2 has been measured as a function of the mean electron energy 〈ε〉 (1.9–4.8 eV) and temperature T (300–700 K) using an electron swarm technique. From the measured ka(〈ε〉,T), the total electron attachment cross sections σda(ε,T) were determined. The peak value (at ∼4.5 eV) of σda

Dissociative Electron Attachment to Molecules
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1968Dissociative-electron-attachment cross sections (some unpublished) for 30 molecules are summarized, evaluated, and discussed within the framework of the resonance scattering theory. The dissociative-attachment peak cross section, σc(εmax), is found to be a strong function of the peak (resonance) energy, εmax, with a break in this dependence at the ...

A Theoretical Model for Indirect Dissociative Electron Attachment
The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2004In this paper, we describe a computational model that allows us to avoid having to perform a very large number of tedious calculations on electronically metastable anions when studying indirect DEA processes. By indirect, we mean that the electron attaches to an orbital in one region of the molecule but a bond is subsequently broken in another region ...

Dissociative electron attachment to gas-phase formamide
Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, 2011Dissociative electron attachment (DEA) to gaseous formamide, HCONH(2), has been investigated in the energy range between 0 eV and 18 eV using a crossed electron/molecule beam technique. The negative ion fragments have been comprehensively monitored and assigned to molecular structures by comparison with the results for two differently deuterated ...

Dissociative Electron Attachment to Biomolecules
2016During the last two decades it became clear that a significant fraction of the biological cellular damage caused by high-energy radiation is actually due to reactions induced by low-energy electrons (

A momentum imaging microscope for dissociative electron attachment
Review of Scientific Instruments, 2012We describe an experimental approach to image the three-dimensional (3D) momentum distribution of the negative ions arising from dissociative electron attachment (DEA). The experimental apparatus employs a low energy pulsed electron gun, an effusive gas source and a 4π solid-angle ion momentum imaging spectrometer consisting of a pulsed ion extraction ...

Dissociative electron attachment to gas-phase glycine
Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry, 2003By using a high-resolution electron energy monochromator low-energy electron attachment to gas-phase glycine (H2NCH2COOH, or G) has been studied by means of mass spectrometric detection of the product anions. In the same way as for several other biologically relevant molecules no stable parent anion was formed by free electron attachment.

Dissociative electron attachment to furan, tetrahydrofuran, and fructose
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2006We study dissociative electron attachment to furan (FN) (C4H4O), tetrahydrofuran (THF) (C4H8O), and fructose (FRU) (C6H12O6) using crossed electron/molecular beams experiments with mass spectrometric detection of the anions. We find that FN and THF are weak electron scavengers and subjected to dissociative electron attachment essentially in the energy ...

Resonant dissociative electron attachments to cysteine and cystine
Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, 2011Shape-resonant electron attachments to cysteine and cystine and the subsequent dissociation dynamics are investigated with the single-center expansion potential scattering calculations. Selectivity of the direct bond cleavage at a given resonant state or by the specific resonant state coupling is demonstrated with the one-dimensional complex potential ...
