Low‐Cost, Large‐Scale Nanoporous Metals by Mechanical Alloying, Oxide Reduction, and Dealloying of Powders

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Powder metal processing provides scalable advantages in nanoporous (np) metal development. Mechanical alloying is used to produce unique precursors for hybrid nanopore formation by oxide reduction and dealloying. As demonstrated in np Ag, this approach improves process efficiency while promoting smaller ligaments and larger pores, both of which are ...

Thermodynamics of sustaining gases in the roughness of submerged superhydrophobic surfaces

open access: yes, 2015
Rough surfaces submerged in a liquid can remain almost dry if the liquid does not fully wet the roughness and gases are sustained in roughness grooves. Such partially dry surfaces can help reduce drag or enhance boiling.

Interactions between Molten High‐Silicon Electrical Steels and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines how several molten high‐silicon electrical steels interact with both conventional and recycled MgO–C refractories. For this, various immersion experiments are conducted. In addition to infiltration, a number of mechanisms are identified and explained that control the corrosion of the refractory material.

Dissolved methane pluming mapping using Membrane Inlet Mass-Spectrometry (MIMS) at a blowout site in the North Sea [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A blow out site in the North Sea (well 22/4-b, UK EEZ) in a water depth of 83 m, served as a test area to demonstrate MIMS as a powerful tool for the continuous measurement of dissolved methane simultaneously to the partial pressure of carbon dioxide ...

Dissolved methane recovery from anaerobic effluents using hollow fibre membrane contactors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Hollow fibre membrane contactor (HFMC) systems have been studied for the desorption of dissolved methane from both analogue and real anaerobic effluents to ascertain process boundary conditions for separation.

Interaction between Molten Al‐Killed Mn–B Steel and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.

Identification of Abnormal data in online dissolved gas monitoring in oil based on PCA and Fast-MCD

open access: yesZhejiang dianli
To detect the operational status of transformers by online monitoring of dissolved gases in oil is critical for ensuring its stable operation. However, faults in monitoring devices can result in abnormal data, severely impacting the effect of online ...

Condition Assessment of High Voltage Power Transformer Using Dissolved Gas Analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Condition monitoring is the process, which is used to monitor parameter of condition in machinery, such that if a significant change occurs it indicates that it may lead to failure of that machine.

Zein‐Based Adhesives: Sustainable Extraction and Application in Bioadhesive Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Zein is extracted from corn gluten meal using a simple and scalable process with high yield (~90%). The resulting protein is applied in bioadhesives modified with Ca2+ and Fe3+ ions, exhibiting substrate‐dependent adhesion. The findings demonstrate competitive bonding performance and highlight the role of ionic interactions in tuning adhesion ...
