Cerium anomaly as a tracer for paleo-oceanic redox conditions: A thermodynamics-based Ce oxidation modeling approach

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2022
Reconstructing redox conditions in the paleo-ocean is essential to understand the Earth’s biogeochemical evolution. Cerium (Ce) anomaly in marine sediments has been used to distinguish oxic versus anoxic depositional environments in the Paleo-ocean ...

The dependence of the consumption of dissolved oxygen on lake morphology in ice covered lakes

open access: yesHydrology Research, 2020
The consumption of oxygen in ice-covered lakes is analyzed and related to biological oxygen demand and sediment oxygen demand. An approach for computing dissolved oxygen concentration is suggested assuming horizontally mixed waters and negligable ...

Dissolved oxygen determination in sewers using flow hydraulic parameters as part of a physical-biological simulation model

open access: yesJournal of Hydroinformatics, 2022
This paper aims to develop a model for calculating the hydraulic and water quality parameters of wastewater within sewers. Information from the wastewater collection network and the transmission line in Birjand were used to verify the model performance ...

Dissolved oxygen sensing using an optical fibre long period grating coated with hemoglobin [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A long period grating fiber optic sensor coated with hemoglobin is used to detect dissolved oxygen. The sensitivity of this sensor to the ratio of dissolved carbon dioxide to dissolved oxygen is demonstrated via the conversion of carboxyhemoglobin to

Dissolved Oxygen

open access: yes, 2014
The amount of dissolved oxygen in seawater is measured using the Carpenter modification of the Winkler method. Carpenters modification (1965) was designed to increase the accuracy of the original method devised by Winkler in 1889. Using Carpenters modification, the significant loss of iodine is reduced and air oxidation of iodide is minimized.

Net community production in the North Atlantic Ocean derived from Volunteer Observing Ship data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The magnitude of marine plankton net community production (NCP) is indicative of both the biologically driven exchange of carbon dioxide between the atmosphere and the surface ocean and the export of organic carbon from the surface ocean to the ocean ...

Dissolved oxygen microelectrode sensors for analysis of trace amounts of dissolved oxygen

open access: yesJournal of the College of Basic Education, 2022
