Study on the Oxygen Consumption Rule of Hydroponic Cotton in Different Periods
In this paper, the decay law of dissolved oxygen in the culture solution of cotton in the seedling stage, bud stage, and blossoming and boll-forming stage was studied via hydroponic cotton experiments, and then, the oxygen consumption and its rule of ...

Gold is a very important metal in human life. Most gold is processed using the sodium cyanide (NaCN) leaching method. Maximizing the leaching recovery can be done by optimizing the leaching process parameters, one of which varies the concentration of ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Frequency and power dependence of ultrasonic degassing
We investigated the time variation of ultrasonic degassing for air-saturated water and degassed water with a sample volume of 100 mL at frequencies of 22, 43, 129, 209, 305, 400, 514, 1018, and 1960 kHz and ultrasonic power of 15 W.

A preliminary assessment of water quality in fish cages on Lake Kariba, Zimbabwe [PDF]
The water quality in fish cages on Lake Kariba was studied. The Kruskal-Wallis test was used to determine whether the water quality parameters differed significantly among the cage-types (cage-type effect). Secchi disc readings ranged from 2 to 4 metres,

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Minimization of Excess Sludge in Activated Sludge Systems [PDF]
The disposal of excess sludge from wastewater treatment plant represents a rising challenge in activated sludge processes. Hence, the minimization of excess sludge production was investigated by increasing the dissolved oxygen in aeration basin. Units of

Dissolved Oxygen Balance Model for Neris
We consider a dissolved oxygen balance model for Neris, which includes biochemical oxygen demand, nitrification, sedimentation, algae respiration and photosynthesis. The load from point sources, tributaries and distributed sources are taken into account.
