Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

An Integrated CODAS Method and Novel Surface-based Weighted Distance Measures under Neutrosophic Environment [PDF]

open access: yesNeutrosophic Sets and Systems
Information theory provides suitable tools for solving practical problems, particularly multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) problems under neutrosophic environments.

A Divergence-Based Distance Measure for Intuitionistic Fuzzy Sets and Its Application in the Decision-Making of Innovation Management

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
The theory of intuitionistic fuzzy set has attracted much attention because of its stronger ability in depicting and modeling uncertainty. Recent years, numbers of distance measures of intuitionistic fuzzy sets have been proposed to distinguish the ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Similarity measures on cubic intuitionistic fuzzy sets [PDF]

open access: yesNotes on IFS
The primary objective of this study is to develop a similarity measure on cubic intuitionistic fuzzy sets. First, we have proposed a series of similarity measures on cubic intuitionistic fuzzy sets based on the geometric model, set-theoretic approach ...

On Representations of Divergence Measures and Related Quantities in Exponential Families

open access: yesEntropy, 2021
Within exponential families, which may consist of multi-parameter and multivariate distributions, a variety of divergence measures, such as the Kullback–Leibler divergence, the Cressie–Read divergence, the Rényi divergence, and the Hellinger metric, can ...

Detecting independence of random vectors: generalized distance covariance and Gaussian covariance

open access: yes, 2018
Distance covariance is a quantity to measure the dependence of two random vectors. We show that the original concept introduced and developed by Sz\'{e}kely, Rizzo and Bakirov can be embedded into a more general framework based on symmetric L\'{e}vy ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These
