DILAND: An Algorithm for Distributed Sensor Localization with Noisy Distance Measurements

open access: yes, 2009
In this correspondence, we present an algorithm for distributed sensor localization with noisy distance measurements (DILAND) that extends and makes the DLRE more robust.

Improving PARP inhibitor efficacy in bladder cancer without genetic BRCAness by combination with PLX51107

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Clinical trials on PARP inhibitors in urothelial carcinoma (UC) showed limited efficacy and a lack of predictive biomarkers. We propose SLFN5, SLFN11, and OAS1 as UC‐specific response predictors. We suggest Talazoparib as the better PARP inhibitor for UC than Olaparib.

Multi-Distance Frequency-Domain Optical Measurements of Coherent Cerebral Hemodynamics

open access: yesPhotonics, 2019
We report non-invasive, bilateral optical measurements on the forehead of five healthy human subjects, of 0.1 Hz oscillatory hemodynamics elicited either by cyclic inflation of pneumatic thigh cuffs, or by paced breathing. Optical intensity and the phase

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

Bhattacharyya’s distance measure as a precursor of genetic distance measures

open access: yesJournal of Biosciences, 2004
In Population Genetics, two populations are distinguished from each other on the basis of the differences in the distributions of the alleles at the locus or loci under consideration. These differences are measured by a “genetic distance” between the two populations (not to be confused with genetic distance between two loci, which is based on ...

DESI 2024 VI: cosmological constraints from the measurements of baryon acoustic oscillations [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics
We present cosmological results from the measurement of baryon acoustic oscillations (BAO) in galaxy, quasar and Lyman-α forest tracers from the first year of observations from the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI), to be released in the DESI ...

Strength through diversity: how cancers thrive when clones cooperate

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumor heterogeneity can offer direct benefits to the tumor through cooperation between different clones. In this review, Kuiken et al. discuss existing evidence for clonal cooperativity to identify overarching principles, and highlight how novel technological developments could address remaining open questions.

A Relative-Localization Algorithm Using Incomplete Pairwise Distance Measurements for Underwater Applications

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2010
The task of localizing underwater assets involves the relative localization of each unit using only pairwise distance measurements, usually obtained from time-of-arrival or time-delay-of-arrival measurements.

Long-Distance Measurements Using a Chromatic Confocal Sensor

open access: yesApplied Sciences
In this work, we demonstrate the use of a chromatic confocal sensor for long-distance measurements. The sensor increases the working distance of state-of-the-art confocal sensors by a factor of 10, reaching a working distance of 620 mm.

Air temperature measurements based on the speed of sound to compensate long distance interferometric measurements

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2014
A method to measure the real time temperature distribution along an interferometer path based on the propagation of acoustic waves is presented. It exploits the high sensitivity of the speed of sound in air to the air temperature. In particular, it takes
