3D Nano‐architected Polymer Shell Enables Reconfigurable Stabilized Blue Phase Soft Crystals
Spherical polymer shells featuring nanostructure of blue phase (BP) disclinations form via in situ photo‐polymerization within BP liquid crystals, providing controlled anchoring for BP nucleation and growth at room temperature and beyond. This architected confinement enhances BP thermal stability over a broad temperature range while enabling dynamic ...

The Relationship Between Time and Distance Perception in Egocentric and Discrete Virtual Locomotion (Teleportation) [PDF]
Traveling distances in the real world inherently involves time, as moving to a desired location is a continuous process. This temporal component plays a role when estimating the distance covered. However, in virtual environments, this relationship is often changed or absent.

DeepDriving: Learning Affordance for Direct Perception in Autonomous Driving [PDF]
Today, there are two major paradigms for vision-based autonomous driving systems: mediated perception approaches that parse an entire scene to make a driving decision, and behavior reflex approaches that directly map an input image to a driving action by a regressor.

Distance and perceptions of risk in internationalization decisions
This study examines top managers’ risk perceptions in internationalization decisions. 126 CEOs and top managers responsible for internationalization in companies with headquarters in Germany, Switzerland, or Austria took part in our experiment. Applying random utility theory in a conjoint choice experiment enables the measurement of top managers ...

Direction of slip modulates the perception of slip distance and slip speed [PDF]
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the psychophysical understanding of the slip stimulus. We emphasized that the perception of slip and its characteristics, such as slip distance and slip speed depend on the interaction between slip direction, slip distance as well as slip speed. Methods: We developed a novel slip induction device to
