Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Numerical investigation of electric field distortion induced by internal defects in composite insulators

open access: yesHigh Voltage, 2017
This paper presents an exhaustive study of numerical investigations based on three-dimensional finite-element method modelling of several non-ceramic insulators of 69, 110 and 230 kV having different internal semi-conductive defects in terms of size and ...

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Investigating transcription factor dynamics in health and disease using FRAP

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
FRAP analysis of GFP‐tagged transcription factors reveals how molecular mobility and target engagement change in response to drug treatment. By combining live‐cell imaging, quantitative model fitting, and statistical analysis, this approach uncovers transcription factor dynamics linked to disease mechanisms, providing a powerful framework for ...

Effect of Quenching Parameters on Distortion Phenomena in AISI 4340 Steel

open access: yesMetals, 2022
During quenching heat treatment, the formation of high residual stress values and the presence of distortion are phenomena which are difficult to control and accurately predict, their effects being extremely important to the components or pieces of ...

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

Certain Classes of Analytic Functions Associated With q-Analogue of p-Valent Cătaş Operator

open access: yesMoroccan Journal of Pure and Applied Analysis, 2021
In this paper, we investigate several interesting properties for certain class of analytic functions defined by q-analogue of p-valent Cătaş operator. All our results are sharp.

Sampling Rate Distortion [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 2014
Consider a discrete memoryless multiple source with $m$ components of which $k \leq m$ possibly different sources are sampled at each time instant and jointly compressed in order to reconstruct all the $m$ sources under a given distortion criterion. A new notion of sampling rate distortion function is introduced, and is characterized first for the case

Spatial biology in cancer epigenetics

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Spatial epigenomics combines molecular profiling with tissue architecture to reveal how gene regulation is organized within intact tissues. In cancer, these technologies uncover the mechanisms driving tumor heterogeneity and microenvironmental interactions, opening new opportunities for biomarker discovery and precision medicine.

Predecisional information distortion in physicians’ diagnostic judgments: Strengthening a leading hypothesis or weakening its competitor?

open access: yesJudgment and Decision Making, 2014
Decision makers have been found to bias their interpretation of incoming information to support an emerging judgment (predecisional information distortion).
