Effect of Quenching Parameters on Distortion Phenomena in AISI 4340 Steel

open access: yesMetals, 2022
During quenching heat treatment, the formation of high residual stress values and the presence of distortion are phenomena which are difficult to control and accurately predict, their effects being extremely important to the components or pieces of ...

Analysis of Treacher Collins syndrome 4‐associated mutations in Schizosaccharomyces pombe

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Fission yeast models carrying Treacher Collins syndrome type 4‐associated mutations reveal that impaired processivity of RNA polymerase I leads to defective rRNA transcription. This study highlights the essential role of a conserved arginine residue in Pol I elongation and provides mechanistic insight into the pathogenesis of ribosomopathies.

Predecisional information distortion in physicians’ diagnostic judgments: Strengthening a leading hypothesis or weakening its competitor?

open access: yesJudgment and Decision Making, 2014
Decision makers have been found to bias their interpretation of incoming information to support an emerging judgment (predecisional information distortion).

Optimized laser turrets for minimum phase distortion [PDF]

open access: yes, 1980
An analysis and computer program which optimizes laser turret geometry to obtain minimum phase distortion is described. Phase distortion due to compressible, inviscid flow over small perturbation laser turrets in subsonic or supersonic flow is calculated.

Deep Learning for Distortion Prediction in Laser-Based Additive Manufacturing using Big Data

open access: yesManufacturing Letters, 2019
Laser-Based Additive Manufacturing (LBAM) is a fabrication process that is a key aspect of Industry 4.0, which aims to employ many sensors for continuous process control. One current challenge in LBAM is the geometric inaccuracy of fabricated parts.

Hands‐on protocol for preparing water‐soluble fractions from agri‐food samples for NMR‐based metabolomics analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This research protocol outlines a workflow for nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)‐based metabolomics in the agri‐food sector. Using two case studies—strawberry leaves (solid matrix) and wine (liquid matrix)—it details the procedures for sample preparation, data acquisition, and processing.

Essential Role of the Cooperative Lattice Distortion in the Charge, Orbital and Spin Ordering in doped Manganites

open access: yes, 2002
The role of lattice distortion in the charge, orbital and spin ordering in half doped manganites has been investigated. For fixed magnetic ordering, we show that the cooperative lattice distortion stabilize the experimentally observed ordering even when ...

Spatial Characteristics of Distortion Radiated From Antenna Arrays With Transceiver Nonlinearities [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, 2017
The distortion from massive multiple-input multiple-output base stations with nonlinear amplifiers is studied and its radiation pattern is derived. The distortion is analyzed both in-band and out-of-band.
