Cumulative Social Disadvantage and Disease Activity in Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis: A Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance Registry Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Social determinants of health (SDOH) contribute to juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) disparities, but most studies have assessed SDOH independently rather than cumulatively across individual, family, and neighborhood levels. Using a socioecological framework, we investigated the relationship among cumulative social disadvantage ...

Invertibility and estimation of two-parameter polynomial and division lens distortion models

open access: yes, 2015
In this paper, we study lens distortion for still images considering two well-known distortion models: the two-parameter polynomial model and the two-parameter division model. We study the invertibility of these models, and we mathematically characterize

Examination of Imaging Parameter Influence on Image Distortion in EPI

open access: yesJapanese Journal of Radiological Technology, 2007
Echo planar imaging (EPI) is highly sensitive to static magnetic field inhomogeneities. The degree of local image compression and stretching is a function of the static field gradient in the phase-encoding direction. This is caused by the accumulation of a phase shift.

Biopsychosocial Determinants of Hand Function and Its Trajectories Over Five Years in Patients With Hand Osteoarthritis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective This study aimed to investigate hand function trajectories over five years in primary hand osteoarthritis (OA). Additionally, determinants of baseline and longitudinal hand function were assessed. Methods A total of 538 patients with both baseline and five‐year study visits were analyzed.

An Iterative Optimization Algorithm for Lens Distortion Correction Using Two-Parameter Models

open access: yes, 2016
We present a method for the automatic estimation of two-parameter radial distortion models, considering polynomial as well as division models. The method first detects the longest distorted lines within the image by applying the Hough transform enriched ...

On the distortions in calculated GW parameters during slanted atmospheric soundings [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Measurement Techniques, 2017
Abstract. The significant distortions introduced in the measured atmospheric gravity wavelengths by soundings other than in vertical and horizontal directions, are discussed as a function of elevation angle of the sounding path and the gravity waves aspect ratio.

Artificial Intelligence in Systemic Sclerosis: Clinical Applications, Challenges, and Future Directions

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a rare autoimmune disease defined by immune dysregulation, vasculopathy, and progressive fibrosis of the skin and internal organs. Despite advances in care, major complications such as interstitial lung disease (ILD) and myocardial involvement remain the leading causes of morbidity and mortality.

Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

The influence of sampling data error and current distortion in fault current wave detection through the parameter fitting method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The method for detecting fault types and the fault current waves in transmission systems was proposed. This paper describes the investigated results regarding the accuracy for parameter fitting in the proposed method.
