SCIPVM: Parallel distributed computing on SCI workstation clusters

Concurrency: Practice and Experience, 1999
Workstation and PC clusters interconnected by SCI (scalable coherent interface) are very promising technologies for high-performance cluster computing. Using commercial SBus to SCI interface cards and system software and drivers, a two-workstation cluster has been constructed for initial testing and evaluation.

An Implementation of Parallel MLFMA on a Cluster of Computers with Distributed Memory

2008 The 9th International Conference for Young Computer Scientists, 2008
MLFMA (multilevel fast multipole algorithm) has made a great achievement in solving electromagnetic scattering problems. In this paper we present our efforts to implement parallel MLFMA on a cluster of computers with distributed memory. In order to get a good load balancing a hybrid partition scheme for the distributed tree is used.

Parallel multi-view concept clustering in distributed computing

Neural Computing and Applications, 2019
Multi-view clustering (MvC) is an emerging task in data mining. It aims at partitioning the data sampled from multiple views. Although a great deal of research has been done, this task remains to be very challenging. We found an important problem in performing the MvC task. MvC needs large amounts of computation.

Distributed Parallel Computing for Fluid-Structure Coupled Simulations on a Heterogeneous Parallel Computer Cluster

The International Journal of High Performance Computing Applications, 1999
Distributed parallel computing for a fluid-structure coupled simulation has been performed on a heterogeneous parallel computer cluster. The fluid and the structure dynamics are simulated on different parallel computers connected by a high-speed local network.

Clustering Weighted Slope One for distributed parallel computing

Proceedings of 2011 International Conference on Computer Science and Network Technology, 2011
Slope One is a simple and widely used collective filter algorithm, it is easy to implemented and works effectively. After Slope One being published, some optimized Slope One algorithms were proposed for improving its accuracy, however these optimized algorithms still overlook some essential drawbacks of Slope One: oversize calculating set.

Improvement of TCP for parallel networks in distributed computing cluster

6th International Conference on Signal Processing, 2002., 2003
In distributed cluster computing system, high performance network communication between nodes is significant. Performance-based path selection (PBPS) can use different features and performance of each network of parallel networks in the cluster to achieve optimal communication efficiency.

Teaching Parallel and Distributed Computing Using a Cluster Computing Portal

2013 IEEE International Symposium on Parallel & Distributed Processing, Workshops and Phd Forum, 2013
This paper presents the establishment of cluster computing lab at a minority serving institution that aims to provide computing resources to support undergraduate computer science curriculum. We present a case study of using this platform to teach parallel and distributed computing topics in the operating system course.

Scheduling algorithms for distributed/parallel computation on Beowulf clusters

2023
Beowulf clusters are proving to be a cost-effective alternative to costly parallel computers. The performance of parallel and distributed programs running on a Beowulf cluster can be improved if the underlying LINUX operating system provides support for coscheduling mechanisms.

Parallel/Distributed Computing on Clusters of High Performance Risc Workstations

1992
Shared—memory vector multiprocessors (VMP) and parallel extensions to FORTRAN offer the most common hardware/software solution to the problem of reducing the elapsed time in large scale computations on numerical grids. Topical kernels in such computations are nested DO—loops in which the outer iterations can be distributed to multiple processors while ...
