Propulsion of a Molecular Machine by Asymmetric Distribution of Reaction Products [PDF]
A simple model for the reaction-driven propulsion of a small device is proposed as a model for (part of) a molecular machine in aqueous media. Motion of the device is driven by an asymmetric distribution of reaction products. The propulsive velocity of the device is calculated as well as the scale of the velocity fluctuations.

A laminar flow, propulsive, jet-flapped concept for electrically powered transport aircraft
Friction drag constitutes approximately half of the total drag of subsonic civil transport aircraft at cruise conditions. Several means were examined to control the flow over an aircraft and achieve laminar flow.

A contribution to the investigation of acoustic interferences in aircraft distributed propulsion [PDF]
AbstractThe objective of this work is to better understand the acoustic interferences created by distributed propulsion engines based on an approach that combines RANS simulation results for the aerodynamic prediction and analytical models to calculate acoustics. A multi-propeller configuration without wing is considered for this investigation.

Aerodynamics and Power Balance of a Distributed Aft-Fuselage Boundary Layer Ingesting Aircraft
This paper presents a first investigation into the aerodynamics and performance breakdown of a distributed aft-fuselage boundary layer ingesting (BLI) tube-and-wing aircraft using fully coupled Unsteady Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (URANS ...

Numerical investigation of aerodynamic effects of distributed propulsion [PDF]
The concept of distributed propulsion is to integrate the propulsion system with the airframe to exploit synergies of such a configuration. This report describes a CFD study of the aerodynamic effect of distributed propulsion.

Untethered Flight of a 270 mg Microrobot Powered by Onboard Energy
It is challenging for microrobots to fly using onboard energy due to the relatively heavy power supplies and inefficient actuators that are limited to a small size (mass less than 1000 mg and wingspan less than 100 mm).
