Clinical training program for distributive pharmacists

American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy, 1997
A training program to enable staff pharmacists in a state correctional system to shift their practice from distributive to clinical is described. Under a contract with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ), the University of Houston College of Pharmacy provides pharmaceutical services to 145,000 patients in 100 correctional facilities.

Massed versus distributed wordprocessor training

Applied Ergonomics, 1987
Two groups of subjects were trained on 12 basic word processing (WP) functions. One group was trained in a 'massed' 60-minute session and the other on a 'distributed' schedule of 60 min in two sessions separated by a ten-minute break. Subjects were tested on speed and accuracy immediately after training, and one week later to measure retention.

Distributed training for Conditional Random Fields

Proceedings of the 6th International Conference on Natural Language Processing and Knowledge Engineering(NLPKE-2010), 2010
This paper proposes a novel distributed training method of Conditional Random Fields (CRFs) by utilizing the clusters built from commodity computers. The method employs Message Passing Interface (MPI) to deal with large-scale data in two steps. Firstly, the entire training data is divided into several small pieces, each of which can be handled by one ...

Distributed simulation – Accessible immersive training

Medical Teacher, 2010
Distributed simulation (DS) is the concept of high-fidelity immersive simulation on-demand, made widely available wherever and whenever it is required. DS provides an easily transportable, self-contained 'set' for creating simulated environments within an inflatable enclosure, at a small fraction of the cost of dedicated, static simulation facilities ...

L2-SVM Training with Distributed Data

2009
We propose an algorithm for the problem of training a SVM model when the set of training examples is horizontally distributed across several data sources. The algorithm requires only one pass through each remote source of training examples, and its accuracy and efficiency follow a clear pattern as function of a user-defined parameter.

Understanding Communication Characteristics of Distributed Training

Proceedings of the 8th Asia-Pacific Workshop on Networking
Communication is pivotal in distributed training and a thorough understanding of its characteristics is essential for future optimizations. However, prior works are limited, either focusing on customized optimizations or conducting incomplete explorations on communication characteristics.
