Sustainability of Distributed Generation in a Reconfigured Distribution Network

2018 IEEE PES/IAS PowerAfrica, 2018
This paper examines the sustainability of utilizing distributed generation (DG) in a reconfigured distribution network. The study is presented as an affordable and clean energy solution suitable for African sustainable development. As a case study, a distribution network (DN) in Northern Nigeria, under the Jos Electricity Distribution Power Company Plc

Studies on the reconfiguration on distributed networks with distributed generation

2015 50th International Universities Power Engineering Conference (UPEC), 2015
This paper presents a methodology for reconfiguration of distribution networks in normal operation and considering the inclusion of distributed generation sources. As a relevant contribution, this work proposes an adaption on the use of AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process) and on the heuristic search with distributed generation (DG) connected to the grid.

Distributed actuator reconfiguration in networked control systems

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2013
In this paper, we address the problem of distributed reconfiguration of first-order networked control systems under actuator faults. In particular, we consider the scenario where a network of actuators cooperates in order to recover from actuator faults.

Intelligent system for automatic reconfiguration of distribution networks

2012 IEEE Conference on Evolving and Adaptive Intelligent Systems, 2012
In Power Systems, the reconfiguration of distribution networks is used to reduce losses, to balance loads and to improve quality indicators. With the advances in Smart Grids and the increased use of remote controlled equipment, it becomes feasible to develop systems that allow the automatic reconfiguration of the network.

Research on distribution network reconfiguration based on microgrid

Journal of Ambient Intelligence and Humanized Computing, 2019
Micro-grids have been considered as a vital part of power system. The distribution system is gradually showing the characteristics of multi-source initiative. The distribution network reconfiguration with microgrid changes the topology of the network by controlling the state of the switch, and optimizes the predetermined indicators under the premise of

Development of discrete CoFFWA for distribution network reconfigurations

Electrical Engineering in Japan, 2018
Abstract In this article, an efficient Discrete CoFFWA method is proposed to deal with distribution network reconfigurations. It is useful for minimizing the active power network losses by switching on/off sectionalizing switches and shunt capacitors.

Network reconfiguration for loss reduction in distribution network with distributed generation

2016 IEEE International Conference on Power and Renewable Energy (ICPRE), 2016
This paper proposed a novel algorithm of network reconfiguratoin based on improved quantum particle swarm optimization (QPSO), which can be used for loss reduction in distribution network with distributed generation. First, the network topology is analysed on the basis of branch loop incidence matrix and layered branch incidence matrix.

Network Reconfiguration in Modern Power Distribution Networks

2020
This chapter introduces the Network Reconfiguration (NR) concept in Distribution Networks (DNs) as an efficient scheme to face various operational issues like reliability improvement and loss reduction. Furthermore, the potential for utilizing NR to perform voltage profile improvement under high DG or Renewable Energy Sources (RESs) penetration is ...

A Distribution Network Reconfiguration Algorithm Based on Hopfield Neural Network

2008 Fourth International Conference on Natural Computation, 2008
On the base of Hopfield neural network, the minimum of feeder looses is treated as the target function. Because the distribution network is radical, we put forward a method for deciding each node's in-degree by using Hopfield neural network. According to each node's in-degree, it can be easily determined whether the line will be used or not.
