Loss allocation in distribution networks with distributed generators undergoing network reconfiguration

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrical and Computer Engineering (IJECE), 2020
In this paper, a branch exchange based heuristic network reconfiguration method is proposed for obtaining an optimal network in a deregulated power system. A unique bus identification scheme is employed which makes the load flow and loss calculation faster due to its reduced search time under varying network topological environment.

Encoding Magnetic Anisotropies in Digital Light Processing 3D Printing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A hybrid magnetic device—combining a coaxial coil within a nested Halbach array—is presented, integrated into a DLP 3D printer to enable spatially resolved magnetic field control. This system enables complex, multimodal responses by programming liquid crystal elastomer resins for magnetic and thermal actuation, and by inducing electrically conductive ...

Integrated electrical and mechanical modelling of integrated-full-electric-propulsion systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Integrated Full Electric Propulsion (IFEP) systems are the subject of much interest at present. Current research is focused on analysing and improving aspects of subsystem and system performance. However, there is a great need to look more widely at the `

Exciton‐Polaritons in Nanoscale Metal‐Organic Frameworks: A Platform for the Reversible Modulation of Strong Light‐Matter Coupling via the Chemical Environment

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Strong exciton‐photon coupling is achieved by integrating porphyrin ligand‐based MOF nanoparticles in optical cavities, as evidenced by pronounced polariton branch anticrossing. The porous nature of the resonator enables precise, reversible tuning via vapor pressure, unlocking unprecedented chemical‐environment controlled dynamic polaritonic platforms ...

Bio‐Inspired Molecular Events in Poly(Ionic Liquids)

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Originating from dipolar and polar inter‐ and intra‐chain interactions of the building blocks, the topologies and morphologies of poly(ionic liquids) (PIL) govern their nano‐ and micro‐processibility. Modulating the interactions of cation‐anion pairs with aliphatic dipolar components enables the tunability of properties, facilitated by “bottom‐up ...

Multi-Objective Optimization and Reconstruction of Distribution Networks with Distributed Power Sources Based on an Improved BPSO Algorithm

open access: yesEnergies
The continuous integration of distributed power into the distribution network has increased the complexity of the distribution network and created challenges in distribution-network reconfiguration.

A successor to ER P2/6 : existing issues and lessons from "Flexible Networks for a Low Carbon Future" [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This note is concerned with a network's ability to meet demand for power. In other words, with 'security of supply' and, in particular, with standards or conventions that drive a distribution network planner’s decisions in respect of ensuring that demand

Shape‐Changing Multiphase Microparticles from Complex Liquid Crystal Emulsions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Liquid crystalline network (LCN) microparticles are prepared from single, double (Janus), and triple emulsions through a simple and scalable bulk‐emulsification strategy. Under heating, the particles exhibit robust, reversible, large‐amplitude deformations that depend both on the morphology and the liquid crystals director field configuration.

Resilient Configuration of Distribution System versus False Data Injection Attacks Against State Estimation [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, 2022
State estimation is used in power systems to estimate grid variables based on meter measurements. Unfortunately, power grids are vulnerable to cyber-attacks.
