Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Measurement Sensitivity and Estimation Error in Distribution System State Estimation using Augmented Complex Kalman Filter

open access: yesJournal of Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy, 2020
Distribution state estimation (DSE) is an essential part of an active distribution network with high level of distributed energy resources. The challenges of accurate DSE with limited measurement data is a well-known problem.

Review of Emerging Concepts in Distribution System State Estimation: Opportunities and Challenges

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2023
Distribution System State Estimation (DSSE) infers the states (e.g., voltage phasors) using measurements from the electric distribution grid. As the distribution network becomes more active due to the increasing penetration of Distributed Energy ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

The Challenges of Low Voltage Distribution System State Estimation—An Application Oriented Review

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
Global trends such as the growing share of renewable energy sources in the generation mix, electrification, e-mobility, and the increasing number of prosumers reshape the electricity value chain, and distribution systems are necessarily affected.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Distribution system state estimation using compressive sensing [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrical Power & Energy Systems, 2017
Abstract This paper leverages the big data provided by micro-phasor measurement units (μPMUs) placed along the smart distribution networks for distribution system state estimation (DSSE). We propose a novel and straightforward DSSE algorithm by solving a set of linear equations without any iterative process.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Applicability and Enhancement of Matrix-Completion-Based Distribution System Monitoring With Limited Measurements

open access: yesIEEE Access
The transition to a sustainable energy future will result in greater dynamics of aggregated power generation and demand in distribution networks. A vast network with limited real-time measurements presents challenges in comprehensively monitoring the ...

High-Order Moment Recursive State Estimation of Markov Jump Linear Systems

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
A high-order moment recursive state estimator is designed to achieve the minimum mean square error estimation of a Markov jump linear system (MJLS) whose state distribution obeys a generalized Gaussian distribution (GGD).
