Active Microgrids with Dispersed Renewable Generation and Their Power Quality Performance Challenges

open access: yesEngineering Proceedings
The research and analyses presented in this paper are an attempt to prove the concept that a flexible and efficient energy transformation requires a gradual digitalization of the energy system, starting from the inside out, i.e., from the low-voltage ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Distribution Coefficient Calculation in Ternary Liquid-Liquid Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
A good description of liquid-liquid equilibrium is important to design extraction separation processes. Equilibrium data are normally needed as distribution coefficients for each individual component.

Chaos Driven Decay of Nuclear Giant Resonances: Route to Quantum Self-Organization

open access: yes, 1993
The influence of background states with increasing level of complexity on the strength distribution of the isoscalar and isovector giant quadrupole resonance in $^{40}$Ca is studied.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Decentralized Intrusion Prevention (DIP) Against Co-Ordinated Cyberattacks on Distribution Automation Systems

open access: yesIEEE Open Access Journal of Power and Energy, 2020
Integration of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) into the distribution system makes today's power grid more remotely monitored and controlled than it has been.

An intracellular transporter mitigates the CO2‐induced decline in iron content in Arabidopsis shoots

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study identifies a gene encoding a transmembrane protein, MIC, which contributes to the reduction of shoot Fe content observed in plants under elevated CO2. MIC is a putative Fe transporter localized to the Golgi and endosomal compartments. Its post‐translational regulation in roots may represent a potential target for improving plant nutrition ...

Wigner Surmise For Domain Systems

open access: yes, 2007
In random matrix theory, the spacing distribution functions $p^{(n)}(s)$ are well fitted by the Wigner surmise and its generalizations. In this approximation the spacing functions are completely described by the behavior of the exact functions in the ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.
