The role of excess heat in reducing the environmental impacts of district heating systems
The European Union (EU) aims to reduce its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions 55 % from 1990 levels by 2030 and achieve climate neutrality by 2050. One strategy to lower emissions in the energy sector is to utilize the excess of waste heat to substitute primary energy.

Daily Heat Load Variation in Swedish District Heating Systems
If daily heat load variations could be eliminated in district heating-systems, it would make the operation of the district heating system less costly and more competitive . There would be several advantages in the operation such as: Less use of expensive

Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.

Internalisation of external costs in studies of local district-heating based energy systems
This study aims to investigate how external costs can be internalised in an energy systems study of local district-heating aiming to assess the socio-economic cost-effectiveness of the district heating system’s operation.

A simplified thermoplastic pultrusion model is developed to predict thermal fields in glass fiber/polyethylene terephthalate (GF/PET) composites with reduced computational cost. By combining effective material homogenization, validation against literature data, and Gaussian‐process‐based optimization, the study reveals how heating limits, pulling speed,

Municipal District Heating and Cooling Co-generation System Feasibility Research [PDF]
In summer absorption refrigerating machines provide cold water using excess heat from municipal thermoelectric power plant through district heating pipelines, which reduces peak electric load from electricity networks in summer.

Phase‐field simulations coupled with dislocation‐density‐based crystal plasticity modeling reproduce γ′ rafting behavior in single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloys under varied loading conditions. The model captures both macroscopic creep and microscopic morphology evolution, with results matching high‐temperature creep experiments.
