Passivity-Based Disturbance Observer Design
Volume 1: Adaptive/Intelligent Sys. Control; Driver Assistance/Autonomous Tech.; Control Design Methods; Nonlinear Control; Robotics; Assistive/Rehabilitation Devices; Biomedical/Neural Systems; Building Energy Systems; Connected Vehicle Systems; Control/Estimation of Energy Systems; Control Apps.; Smart Buildings/Microgrids; Education; Human-Robot Systems; Soft Mechatronics/Robotic Components/Systems; Energy/Power Systems; Energy Storage; Estimation/Identification; Vehicle Efficiency/Emissions, 2020Abstract A design method is proposed for a nonlinear disturbance observer based on the notion of passivity. As an initial application, we consider here systems whose structure comprises a set of integrator cascades, though the proposed approach can be extended to a larger class of systems.

Synthesized Disturbance Observer for Vehicle Lateral Disturbance Rejection
2018 Annual American Control Conference (ACC), 2018Fast disturbance detection and compensation play an important role in vehicle steering control system. Disturbance observer (DOB) is an effective technique to compensate for the disturbance. However, the design procedure of the DOB requires a stable inverse of the plant and an additional $Q$ filter to guarantee the stability and the robustness to ...

Anti‐disturbance control for nonlinear system via adaptive disturbance observer
International Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control, 2016SummaryThis paper addresses the problems of disturbance estimation and anti‐disturbance control for nonlinear system with exogenous disturbance, which is generated from an unknown exogenous system. The state observer and the adaptive disturbance observer are designed, simultaneously.

AbstractDisturbance observer‐based elegant anti‐disturbance control (DOBEADC) scheme is proposed for a class of stochastic systems with nonlinear dynamics and multiple disturbances. The stochastic disturbance observer based on pole placement is constructed to estimate disturbance which is generated by an exogenous system.

Disturbance Observer-based Control
2011In this chapter, it is revealed that a disturbance observer-based control scheme is very effective in controlling integral processes with dead time. The controller can be designed to reject ramp disturbances, step disturbances, and even arbitrary disturbances. Only two parameters are left to tune when the plant model is available.

Doppler observations of ionospheric disturbances
Contemporary Physics, 1970Summary The Doppler shift in frequency of an ionospherically reflected radio wave can be used to study various ionospheric disturbances. In this article the experimental arrangement for measuring such a shift is described, and examples of frequency shifts associated with solar flares, geomagnetic variations and travelling disturbances are discussed.
