Disturbance Attenuation and Load Decoupling with H∞ Positive Joint Torque Feedback

open access: yes, 1998
Positive joint torque feedback can compensate the detrimental effects of load torques on position tracking performance. However, with (real world) non-ideal torque sources, simple unity gain positive torque feedback can actually deteriorate the ...

Toward a Rational Design of Conjugated Copolymers with Oxygenated Side Chains for Boosting Thermoelectric Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
The molecular design strategy that integrates both side chain and backbone engineering in diketopyrrolopyrrole‐based conjugated polymers to identify the optimal balance between doping efficiency and microstructural order is demonstrated. Comprehensive spectroscopic, electrochemical, morphological, and structural characterizations reveal that the ...

Disturbance torque rejection properties of the NASA/JPL 70-meter antenna axis servos

open access: yes, 1989
Analytic methods for evaluating pointing errors caused by external disturbance torques are developed and applied to determine the effects of representative values of wind and friction torque.

Decoupling Chemical and Mechanical Contributions to Capacity Fading in Ni‐Rich Cathodes for Sulfide‐Based All‐Solid‐State Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Ni‐rich cathodes in sulfide‐based ASSBs undergo intertwined (electro)chemical and mechanical degradation. Here, a new diagnostic framework is presented to decouple each contribution by partitioning capacity fading into charge and discharge fading.

Universal Oxychlorination Strategy in Halide Solid Electrolytes for All‐Solid‐State Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
A WO2Cl2‐driven oxychlorination strategy enables bulk oxygen incorporation into close‐packed LixMCl6 (M = Zr, Y, Er, In) halide lattices. Oxygen is selectively anchored by W6+ as lattice‐integrated [WO2Cl4]2− units, regulating the anionic framework, diversifying Li coordination, and weakening Li–Cl interactions.

Adaptive Disturbance Torque Estimation for Orbiting Spacecraft Using Recursive Least-Squares Methods

open access: yes, 2016
This paper develops a novel disturbance torque estimator for an orbiting spacecraft by using the adaptive least-squares parameter estimation technique. The disturbance estimation is first formulated as an adaptive least-squares minimization problem using

Sensorless MRAS-Based Predictive Torque Control for Induction Motor Drive with Load Disturbance Observer

open access: yes, 2018
International audienceThe predictive torque control (PTC) has a similar structure to the direct torque control (DTC). However, instead of using a look-up switching table and hysteresis comparators, this technique evaluates the torque and stator flux in ...

A new drag and lift correlation for spherocylinders from fully resolved Immersed Boundary Method

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Many industrial processes deal with non‐spherical particles, e.g., mineral mining and biomass conversion. It is crucial to understand the particles' hydrodynamics to control and optimize these processes. To extend the current state‐of‐the‐art from arrays of spherical particles to spherocylindrical particles, we performed extensive particle ...

Toward Capacitive In‐Memory‐Computing: A Device to Systems Level Perspective on the Future of Artificial Intelligence Hardware

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
Capacitive, charge‐domain compute‐in‐memory (CIM) stores weights as capacitance, eliminating DC sneak paths and IR‐drop, yielding near‐zero standbypower. In this perspective, we present a device to systems level performance analysis of most promising architectures and predict apathway for upscaling capacitive CIM for sustainable edge computing ...
