Optimisation of an extraction technique of fish allergens suitable for detection and diagnosis
An optimised protocol for the extraction of allergenic proteins in fish was developed. Twelve existing or modified extraction buffers were evaluated based on the amount and quality of obtained 12 kDa IgG-binding protein (major fish allergen parvalbumin ...

Characterization of endonuclease activities in Moloney murine leukemia virus and its replication-defective mutants [PDF]
To study Moloney murine leukemia virus (M-MulV) proteins associated with the integration of proviral DNA into the host chromosome, we isolated endonuclease activities from purified virion preparations of the wild type and two of its replication mutants ...

The PSF.p54nrb complex is a novel Mnk substrate that binds the mRNA for tumor necrosis factor alpha [PDF]
To identify new potential substrates for the MAP kinase signal-integrating kinases (Mnks), we employed a proteomic approach. The Mnks are targeted to the translational machinery through their interaction with the cap-binding initiation factor complex. We

Magnetic Ion Channel Activation (MICA) enables remote stimulation of mechanosensitive ion channels using functionalised magnetic nanoparticles, enhancing extracellular vesicle (EV) biogenesis is pre‐osteoblasts. MICA desrived EVs exhibit typical nano‐vesicular characteristics but display superior pro‐osteogeneic activity, promoting mesenchymal stem ...

Design and Synthesis of Peptide‐Polyester Conjugates for Cell‐Mediated Scaffold Degradation
This work describes polycaprolactone (PCL)‐based biomaterials engineered to degrade in response to cell‐secreted proteases. A fast‐degrading peptide (Fast) sequence is integrated into a PCL conjugate backbone to produce a biomaterial that is selectively degraded by multiple cell types compared to its scrambled control (ScrFast).

Electroblotting onto activated glass. High efficiency preparation of proteins from analytical sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gels for direct sequence analysis [PDF]
We have developed a new method for the isolation of proteins for microsequencing. It consists of electrophoretic transfer (electroblotting) of proteins or their cleavage fragments onto activated glass filter paper sheets immediately after separation by ...

A Monomer-to-Trimer Transition of the Human Mitochondrial Transcription Termination Factor (mTERF) Is Associated with a Loss of in Vitro Activity [PDF]
The human mitochondrial transcription termination factor (mTERF) is a nuclear-encoded 39-kDa protein that recognizes a mtDNA segment within the mitochondrial tRNALeu(UUR) gene immediately adjacent to and downstream of the 16 S rRNA gene. Binding of mTERF
