1,4-Dithiothreitol (DTT), a highly water-soluble and well-known reducing agent for preservation and regeneration of sulfhydryl groups in biomedical applications, has been developed as an efficient and stable coreactant of lucigenin for the first time. DTT efficiently reacts with lucigenin to generate intense chemiluminescence (CL), eliminating the need

Radioprotection and recovery by dithiothreitol
Experientia, 1970Le DTT reduit et oxyde, administre a des sourris irradiees par des doses mortelles de rayons X, provoque une survie notable; le meilleur effect est obtenu avec le DTT oxyde, administre indifferemment avant ou apres l'irradiation.

The radiolysis of aqueous solutions containing dithiothreitol and oxidized dithiothreitol
Radiation Physics and Chemistry (1977), 1982Abstract The radiation chemistry of aqueous solutions (pH 1-9) of dithiothreitol (DTT) has been investigated by pulsed and steady-state techniques. From G(H2S) in N2- and N2O-saturated solutions it was concluded for pH 5–9 that the majority of the solvated electrons and 25–40% of the hydroxyl radicals reacted with DTT to form H2S.

Platelet Aggregation Caused by Dithiothreitol
Thrombosis and Haemostasis, 1984SummaryMacIntyre et al. showed that over 1 mM dithiothreitol (DTT) aggregates blood platelets in the presence of fibrinogen; aggregation is not inhibited by prostaglandin E1. We confirmed their data and found that 70 mM 2-mercaptoethanol was also active.

Reaction of rhodanese with dithiothreitol
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Enzymology, 1976The reaction between bovine rhodanese (thiosulfate:cyanide sulfurtransferase, EC 2.8.1.1) and reduced dithiothreitol has been studied. This reagent, in the absence of thiosulfate, reduces the amount of sulfur carried by rhodanese with formation of sulfide and oxidized dithiothreitol: E-S-SH + reduced dithiothreitol replaced by E-SH + HS- + oxidized ...

Nanoparticle reactivity toward dithiothreitol
Nanotoxicology, 2008Hazard determination of nanoparticles (NP) is challenging and should be based on a predictive and pragmatic tier approach. The biological effects of NP appear to be related not only to surface/size but also to their ability to generate free radicals/oxidants.

Dithiothreitol Effects on Human Sperm Quality
Journal of Urology, 1994Human semen normally coagulates immediately after ejaculation and then undergoes liquefaction during the next 15 to 60 minutes. Incomplete seminal liquefaction can result in impaired sperm motility and make clinical evaluation and manipulation difficult.
