Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Effects of Dithiothreitol on Fertilization and Early Development in Sea Urchin

open access: yesCells, 2021
The vitelline layer (VL) of a sea urchin egg is an intricate meshwork of glycoproteins that intimately ensheathes the plasma membrane. During fertilization, the VL plays important roles. Firstly, the receptors for sperm reside on the VL.

Dithiothreitol Enhances Listeria monocytogenes Mediated Cell Cytotoxicity [PDF]

open access: yesMicrobiology and Immunology, 2000
AbstractThe hybridoma Ped‐2E9 based cytotoxicity assay was developed to distinguish virulent from avirulent Listeria species in 6 hr. The cytotoxicity effect on Ped‐2E9 was reported to be primarily due the cytolytic action of listeriolysin O (LLO), produced by L. monocytogenes. In this study, the effect of a reducing agent, dithiothreitol (DTT, 0–2 mm)

Dammarenediol II enhances etoposide‐induced apoptosis by targeting O‐GlcNAc transferase and Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling in liver cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...

Pretransfusion Testing and Daratumumab: Assessing Interference Risks and Developing Solutions

open access: yesGlobal Journal of Transfusion Medicine
Daratumumab is a monoclonal antibody; anti-CD38 is used for the treatment of multiple myeloma and other hematological disorders. Daratumumab, binds to CD 38 on red blood cells (RBCs), interfering with pretransfusion testing. This interference can lead to

Cloning, expression and antioxidant activity of a thioredoxin peroxidase from Branchiostoma belcheri tsingtaunese. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
Peroxiredoxins (Prxs) are ubiquitous antioxidant enzymes that catalyze the thioredoxin- dependent reduction of hydroperoxides. In this study, a novel thioredoxin peroxidase (Bbt-TPx1), a member of the peroxiredoxin superfamily, was found by EST sequence ...

Dithiothreitol Affects the Fertilization Response in Immature and Maturing Starfish Oocytes

open access: yesBiomolecules, 2023
Immature starfish oocytes isolated from the ovary are susceptible to polyspermy due to the structural organization of the vitelline layer covering the oocyte plasma membrane, as well as the distribution and biochemical properties of the actin ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

A new method for flow cytometry-based detection of ABO antigen expression levels

open access: yesZhongguo shuxue zazhi
[Objective] To design and establish a new method for flow cytometry-based detection of commonly observed highly expressed antigens on red blood cells, and to further evaluate the differences and distribution characteristics of antigen expression levels ...
