Design and rationale of the eLym™ System for Decompensation of Excess Lymphatic Fluid via the Thoracic Duct in Acute Heart Failure (DELTA‐HF)

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 3, Page 1719-1726, June 2025.
Abstract Aims The interstitial space is the major compartment in which the excess fluid is located, forming peripheral congestion in acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF). The lymphatic system is responsible for the constant drainage of the compartment.

State of precision medicine for heart failure with preserved ejection fraction in a new therapeutic age

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 3, Page 1544-1557, June 2025.
Abstract Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) is defined by heart failure (HF) with a left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) of at least 50%. HFpEF has a complex and heterogeneous pathophysiology with multiple co‐morbidities contributing to its presentation. Establishing the diagnosis of HFpEF can be challenging.

Gravitational Force and the Cardiovascular System [PDF]

open access: yes
Cardiovascular responses to changes in gravitational force are considered. Man is ideally suited to his 1-g environment. Although cardiovascular adjustments are required to accommodate to postural changes and exercise, these are fully accomplished for ...

Randomized trial to assess worsening renal function by adding dapagliflozin for acute decompensated heart failure

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 3, Page 2023-2033, June 2025.
Abstract Aims Dapagliflozin (DAPA), a sodium‐glucose co‐transporter 2 inhibitor, has been shown to reduce cardiovascular mortality among patients with chronic heart failure. We aimed to evaluate the impact on a worsening renal function (WRF) by adding DAPA as compared to standard decongestive therapy with loop diuretics alone.

Skin Protection With Hydrofibre Foam and Silicone‐Based Dressing Can Help Prevent Pressure Injuries: A Preliminary Evaluation in Brazil

open access: yesInternational Wound Journal, Volume 22, Issue 6, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Understanding skin microclimate—the temperature and humidity at the interface between the skin and other surfaces—is critical for preventing pressure injury (PI). This prospective case series evaluated the performance of a hydrofibre multilayer foam dressing with silicone coating in managing the sacral microclimate in intensive care patients ...
