Diversity-normed spaces and diversity embeddings

Studia Mathematica, 2022
Summary: The purpose of this paper is to extend some known metric embedding results to the setting of diversities introduced in [\textit{D.~Bryant} and \textit{P.~F. Tupper}, Adv. Math. 231, No.~6, 3172--3198 (2012; Zbl 1256.54055)]. We first introduce diversity-normed spaces as a generalization of normed spaces and investigate their relationships with

Towards a structural diversity space

Proceedings of the fifteenth ACM conference on Hypertext and hypermedia, 2004
One of the most visible and significant effects of the introduction and use of hypermedia technology has been to substantially increase the variety of structures available in computing environments. As research in the hypermedia field has progressed, the pace at which structure evolves has increased.

Diverse dimension decomposition for itemset spaces

Knowledge and Information Systems, 2011
We introduce the problem of diverse dimension decomposition in transactional databases. A dimension is a set of mutually-exclusive item sets, and our problem is to find a decomposition of the item set space into dimensions, which are orthogonal to each other, and that provide high coverage of the input database.

Space-Diversity Engineering

Bell System Technical Journal, 1975
Vertically separated antennas are recommended to increase the transmission availability of line-of-sight microwave links by reducing the duration and frequency of multipath fading events. The emphasis is on application to the 4- and 6-GHz bands on links with negligible ground reflections.

Diversity in Medicinal Chemistry Space

Current Topics in Medicinal Chemistry, 2006
The chemical universe containing organic molecules within a reasonable molecular weight is vast and largely unexplored. Estimations of possible numbers of unique molecules range from 10(13) to 10(180). These numbers have to be compared with the few tens of millions of compounds currently known. Design of libraries that populate the medicinally relevant

Diversity in Space

2023
While the Outer Space Treaty (1967) considers space to be part of humanity’s shared heritage, those who have and will have access to space are not representative of the diversity present in the species. With rigorous health checks and stringent selection criteria for astronauts, people who are differently abled or have mental health issues have ...

Space for the river, space for diversity?

Role of hydrology in managing consequences of a changing global environment, 2010
During the first decade of the twenty-first century, water availability and distribution have become increasingly important for sustainable development and biodiversity conservation. Issues of water scarcity, quality, and accessibility affect the livelihood of many communities across the globe, as well the sustainability of water systems and associated
