A new diversity technique: Rotation and space diversity

2010 IEEE 18th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference, 2010
In this work, we propose a new transmit diversity technique which we call rotation and space diversity. In this technique, in-phase and quadrature components of the rotated symbols are transmitted by two transmitter antennas such that they are affected by different fading coefficients and received by single receiver antenna.

On population diversity measures in Euclidean space

IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation, 2010
In this paper we define a mathematical notion of ectropy for classifying diversity measures in terms of the extent to which they tend to penalize point collocation, we investigate the advantages and disadvantages of several known measures and we propose some novel ones.

Uncoded Space-Time Labeling Diversity

IEEE Communications Letters, 2016
In this letter, we apply labeling diversity to a space-time block coded system, which does not require channel coding or bit interleaving. The proposed system is investigated for both Rayleigh frequency-flat fast and quasi-static fading channels. The theoretical average bit error probability of the system is formulated using the union bound approach. A

Gathering Differences. Sacred Spaces and Diversities

2021
Tensions between different religious beliefs are often on the agenda with their ferocious degenerations, discriminations, and radicalizations: “universalistic” visions clash with the need of every credo to be alternative to the others, and so in contrast. This ambiguity is contained in the word “religion” itself. In most European languages two meanings

Diversity-embedded space-time codes

GLOBECOM '03. IEEE Global Telecommunications Conference (IEEE Cat. No.03CH37489), 2004
Rate and diversity impose a fundamental trade-off in space-time coding. High-rate space-time codes come at a cost of lower diversity, and high reliability (diversity) implies a lower rate. We explore a different point of view where we design high-rate space-time codes that have a high-diversity code embedded within them.

Coded Modulation with Signal Space Diversity

IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, 2011
Signal space diversity (SSD) is a well-known power- and bandwidth-efficient diversity technique with constellation rotation and coordinate interleaving. This paper investigates issues of combining SSD with coded modulation systems (CMSs), e.g., bit-interleaved coded modulation (BICM) and its iterative version, BICM-ID.

The global diversity of birds in space and time

Nature, 2012
Current global patterns of biodiversity result from processes that operate over both space and time and thus require an integrated macroecological and macroevolutionary perspective. Molecular time trees have advanced our understanding of the tempo and mode of diversification and have identified remarkable adaptive radiations across the tree of life ...

Angle diversity and space diversity experiments on the Salton/Brawley hop

[Proceedings] GLOBECOM '90: IEEE Global Telecommunications Conference and Exhibition, 1992
Space diversity and angle diversity experimental data have been collected over a three year period, using 64 quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) radios, on the terrestrial microwave radio hop between Salton and Brawley in southern California. Both measured data and simulations have shown that the performance of angle diversity systems depends on the ...

The Rules and Spaces of Diversity

Abstract: Chapter 1 introduces the relationship between urban space and diversity, arguing that the assemblage of proprietary, locational, perceptive-mental and physical features of a space is a key element to consider when dealing with the coexistence of diverse and conflicting preferences, beliefs and lifestyles.
