First results from divertor operation in Wendelstein 7-X

open access: yesPlasma Physics and Controlled Fusion, 2018
Wendelstein 7-X is a highly optimized stellarator that went into operation in 2015. With a 30 cubic meter volume, a superconducting coil system operating at 2.5 T, and steady-state heating capability of eventually up to 10 MW, it was built to demonstrate

Novel inferences of ionisation & recombination for particle/power balance during detached discharges using deuterium Balmer line spectroscopy

open access: yes, 2019
The physics of divertor detachment is determined by divertor power, particle and momentum balance. This work provides a novel analysis technique of the Balmer line series to obtain a full particle/power balance measurement of the divertor.

Targeting Lactate and Lactylation in Cancer Metabolism and Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Lactate, once deemed a metabolic waste, emerges as a central regulator of cancer progression. This review elucidates how lactate and its epigenetic derivative, protein lactylation, orchestrate tumor metabolism, immune suppression, and therapeutic resistance.

Understanding and Overcoming Antibody‐Drug Conjugate Resistance: Biological Mechanisms and Emerging Analytical Frameworks in Breast Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Antibody–drug conjugates (ADCs) transform breast cancer therapy, yet resistance limits their durability. Emerging evidence reveals that ADC failure is not solely tumor‐intrinsic but shaped by dynamic tumor–microenvironment interactions that alter drug delivery, processing, and response.

Divertor impurity seeding experiments at the COMPASS tokamak

open access: yesNuclear Fusion, 2019
Partial detachment is the desired regime for the baseline burning plasma scenario in ITER and other next-step devices, as it allows for the dissipation of the majority of the energy carried by charged particles through the scrape-off-layer and thus ...

Wearable Battery‐Free Electrotherapy of Smartsensors for Wound Healthcare

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Herein, we propose a simple strategy for integrating battery‐free electrotherapy wound dressings with wound sensors. Solid‐state supercapacitors constructed by PMAB with cross‐linked interpenetrating network provide energy for electrotherapy. Meanwhile, excellent mechanical sensing performance of wound dressing was used for wound assessment.

Endothelial GPR68 Is Essential for Arteriogenesis and Represents a Therapeutic Target in a Model of Peripheral Artery Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Endothelial GPR68 is identified as a critical regulator of collateral artery growth in peripheral artery disease. Genetic and pharmacological evidence demonstrates that GPR68 integrates hemodynamic cues to drive monocyte recruitment and inflammatory remodeling, thereby promoting collateral arteriogenesis and tissue perfusion after ischemia ...

Leveraging Macrophage Metabolic Reprogramming for Enhanced Anti‐Tumor Immunity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Tumor‐associated macrophages (TAMs) are key regulators of the tumor microenvironment (TME), with their metabolic states playing a critical role in tumor progression or regression. This review summarizes current understanding of TAM metabolic plasticity alongside cutting‐edge bioengineering innovations, outlining a roadmap for transforming the ...

First application of the island divertor configuration in the J-TEXT tokamak

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
For the first time, an island divertor configuration was successfully implemented in the J-TEXT tokamak to improve heat exhaust and impurity control. The magnetic island is generated by applying external resonant magnetic perturbation fields, and the ...

Material migration and fuel retention studies during the JET carbon divertor campaigns

open access: yesFusion engineering and design, 2019
The first divertor was installed in the JET machine between 1992 and 1994 and was operated with carbon tiles and then beryllium tiles in 1994–5. Post-mortem studies after these first experiments demonstrated that most of the impurities deposited in the ...
