Circular dichroism and conformational polymorphism of DNA [PDF]
Here we review studies that provided important information about conformational properties of DNA using circular dichroic (CD) spectroscopy. The conformational properties include the B-family of structures, A-form, Z-form, guanine quadruplexes, cytosine quadruplexes, triplexes and other less characterized structures.

Determination of plasmid copy number in yeast transformants by means of agarose plugs [PDF]
The determination of plasmid copy number in Saccharomyces cerevisiaetransformants containing circular or linear plasmids is currently performed with total yeast DNA extracts obtained from cultures grown under selection.

Circulating histones as clinical biomarkers in critically ill conditions
Circulating histones are emerging as promising biomarkers in critical illness due to their diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic potential. Detection methods such as ELISA and mass spectrometry provide reliable approaches for quantifying histone levels in plasma samples.

TempliPhi, ⌽29 DNA Polymerase Based Rolling Circle Amplification of Templates for DNA Sequencing
We have developed a novel, isothermal DNA amplification strategy that employs ⌽29 DNA polymerase and rolling circle amplification to generate high-quality templates for DNA sequencing reactions. The TempliPhi™ DNA amplification kits take advantage of the

Similar gene estimates from circular and linear standards in quantitative PCR analyses using the prokaryotic 16S rRNA gene as a model. [PDF]
Quantitative PCR (qPCR) is one of the most widely used tools for quantifying absolute numbers of microbial gene copies in test samples. A recent publication showed that circular plasmid DNA standards grossly overestimated numbers of a target gene by as ...

Exposure to common noxious agents (1), including allergens, pollutants, and micro‐nanoplastics, can cause epithelial barrier damage (2) in our body's protective linings. This may trigger an immune response to our microbiome (3). The epithelial barrier theory explains how this process can lead to chronic noncommunicable diseases (4) affecting organs ...

Entropic penalties in circular DNA assembly [PDF]
The thermodynamic properties of DNA circular molecules are investigated by a new path integral computational method which treats in the real space the fundamental forces stabilizing the molecule. The base pair and stacking contributions to the classical action are evaluated separately by simulating a broad ensemble of twisted conformations.

Rational tangle surgery and Xer recombination on catenanes
The protein recombinase can change the knot type of circular DNA. The action of a recombinase converting one knot into another knot is normally mathematically modeled by band surgery.
