Multiomics Analyses Reveal an Essential Role of Tryptophan in Treatment of csDMARDs in Rheumatoid Arthritis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Rheumatoid arthritis is a disease characterized by joint inflammation. Approximately 50% of patients show insufficient response to traditional synthetic disease‐modifying antirheumatic drugs. This study aims to elucidate differential molecular profiles of the mechanisms underlying drug responses through multi‐omics strategy.

Entomological characterization of malaria in northern Colombia through vector and parasite species identification, and analyses of spatial distribution and infection rates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Background: Malaria remains a worldwide public health concern and, in Colombia, despite the efforts to stop malaria transmission, the incidence of cases has increased over the last few years. In this context, it is necessary to evaluate vector diversity,

Integrin α8‐Mediated Pericyte Morphogenesis Controls Blood‐Brain Barrier Integrity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study highlights that ITGA8 impacts pericyte morphology and function, both crucial for BBB integrity, via RhoA/ROCK signaling, thus influencing TGF‐β1 activation through cytoskeletal tension and ECM interactions. Notably, in post‐ischemic recovery models, ITGA8 deficiency exacerbates vascular dysfunction by impairing pericyte‐mediated BBB ...

Exploring the safety of lycorine in the central nervous system and its impact on pain-like behaviors in mice

open access: yesScientific Reports
Alkaloid analgesics have been associated with adverse effects on the central nervous system (CNS). Therefore, it is crucial to characterize the effects of alkaloid analgesics.

DNA barcoding Indonesian Acanthopleurinae (Polyplacophora) [PDF]

open access: yes
The approximately 14 recognized species of Acanthopleurinae worldwide include conspicuous and large tropical shore chitons of the genera Acanthopleura, Liolphura, and Squamopleura. They are well studied for their impressive homing behavior, shell eyes (

Transcript-indexed ATAC-seq for precision immune profiling. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
T cells create vast amounts of diversity in the genes that encode their T cell receptors (TCRs), which enables individual clones to recognize specific peptide-major histocompatibility complex (MHC) ligands. Here we combined sequencing of the TCR-encoding

Exploring Functionally Enhanced BLP‐Trained Macrophage Subpopulations in S. Aureus Infection: Underlying Mechanisms and Therapeutic Significance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
BLP‐trained macrophages show augmented resistance to infection, but their mechanisms remain unclear. scRNA‐seq identified 13 BMDM subsets, with two novel anti‐inflammatory/antibacterial subpopulations (C5/C7) emerging post‐BLP training. BLP training activates NRF2, attenuates oxidative stress/ferroptosis, and boosts glycolysis/OXPHOS. Adoptive transfer

EMBL2checklists: A Python package to facilitate the user-friendly submission of plant and fungal DNA barcoding sequences to ENA [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The submission of DNA sequences to public sequence databases is an essential, but insufficiently automated step in the process of generating and disseminating novel DNA sequence data. Despite the centrality of database submissions to biological research,

Human iPSC‐Derived Mononuclear Phagocytes Improve Cognition and Neural Health across Multiple Mouse Models of Aging and Alzheimer's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Short‐term intravenous treatments with iPSC‐derived mononuclear phagocytes (iMPs) improve cognitive decline and neural health in two mouse models of aging and in the 5xFAD mouse model of Alzheimer's disease. iMPs reduce levels of serum amyloid proteins that increase in aging and improve the health of hippocampal microglia and mossy cells.
