Ancient people and living nature: A global perspective on archaeological areas and biodiversity

open access: yesPeople and Nature, Volume 8, Issue 5, Page 1085-1099, May 2026.
Abstract Archaeological sites are not only of cultural and historical significance but also contribute to biodiversity conservation. Often marked by limited human disturbance and distinct ecological conditions, these areas serve as important refuges for various plant and animal species, playing a vital role in global conservation efforts.

Amphibian diversity of the Dnipro river within the limits of the Dnipro city agglomeration

open access: yesПитання степового лісознавства та лісової рекультивації земель, 2021
Amphibians play an important role in the formation of biodiversity and functioning in most terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems. Urbanization threatens to survive many species due to the destruction of natural ecosystems whose remains become fragmented, isolated, and modified by urbanization processes.

Recent Changes and Variability of Suspended Particulate Matter in European and Mediterranean Coastal Waters Inferred From OLCI Data

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, Volume 131, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract Suspended Particulate Matter (SPM) plays a central role in coastal marine ecosystems, influencing light availability, primary production, and transport of sediments, nutrients, and pollutants. Monitoring its variability is essential for understanding the impacts of both natural and anthropogenic pressures on coastal regions.

SWOT Satellite Observations of the Kakhovka Dam Break Flood Highlight Limitations of Outburst Flood Models

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 8, 28 April 2026.
Abstract The 6 June 2023 failure of the Kakhovka Dam generated a catastrophic outburst flood, leading to loss of life and infrastructure damage. During the flood, daily measurements of water surface elevation were collected by the SWOT satellite, providing the first direct, high‐resolution 2D measurements of a large outburst flood.

Hybrid Nanofibers for Multimodal Accelerated Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 15, Issue 15, 17 April 2026.
Fabrication of wound healing scaffolds based on biocompatible nanofibers. Nanofibers offering high surface area, flexibility, and biocompatibility significantly improved the healing outcome in vivo. Histological, immunological, and anti‐inflammatory markers are noticeably better in treated wounds.

Pan‐Continental Genomic Analysis of Eurasian Perch Uncovers Global Diversity Hotspots and Postglacial Recolonization Patterns

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 4, April 2026.
We reconstructed the postglacial recolonization history of Eurasian perch using mitochondrial and nuclear genomic data spanning Europe and Western Siberia. The analyses revealed multiple glacial refugia and extensive secondary admixture, reflecting a dynamic history of range expansion and contact among divergent lineages.
