DOAJ participated in the Second CRAFT-OA Summer School, Coimbra, Portugal. The session was called: 'Aggregators and their requirements: OpenAlex, DOAJ, OpenAIRE (Kyle Demes, Dominic Mitchell, Leonidas Pispiringas)' The guide contains details about the requirements a journal must meet to be considered for indexing in DOAJ.

, 2004 On February 8, the DOAJ introduced a few improvements. (1) It's now OpenURL-compliant. (2) It has tweaked the user interface and added a useful subject tree. (3) It has tweaked its OAI server, adding DOAJ subject terms and LCC codes to the records and making each top-level subject a set.

, 2008 The new titles page at the Directory of Open Access Journals now allows users to sort the list by date added or journal name, and to view only the titles added between a given pair of dates. This will make it much easier to track the growth of the index, track the growth of OA journals overall, and spread the word about new titles.
