4D Mapping of ZIF Biocomposites for High Protein Loading and Tunable Release Profiles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Systematic four‐dimensional mapping of zeolitic imidazolate framework biocomposites reveals how precursor ratios, total concentration, and washing define crystalline phase, protein loading, and release kinetics. This comprehensive study identifies conditions yielding record loading (∼85%) and precise phase–property correlations.

A search for time-integrated CP violation in $D^{0} \rightarrow h^{-}h^{+}$ decays

open access: yes, 2012
The LHCb Collaboration has recently observed evidence of CP violation in neutral D meson decays. CP violation in the charm sector is generically expected to be very small in the Standard Model, but can be enhanced in many models of new physics.

The Invisible Forest: Conservation Easement Databases and the End of the Clandestine Conservation of Natural Lands [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Olmsted talks about invisible forest refers to forest lands -- and, for that matter, any other land types -- protected by a perpetual conservation easement, the existence and location of which are concealed from the public, whether deliberately or ...

Geometry‐Dependent Adhesion in Transparent Monodomain Liquid Crystal Elastomers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Liquid Crystal Elastomers (LCEs) are emerging as exciting pressure‐sensitive adhesives. We examine adhesion in chemically identical elastomer films, exploring the influence of geometry (director orientation) and phase (nematic or isotropic). We demonstrate the potential of these aligned films as transparent, tunable, broad‐temperature‐range smart ...
