Pan‐Regional Prolonged Droughts Linked to Consecutive La Niña Events

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 12, 28 June 2026.
Abstract From 2020 to 2023, prolonged droughts affected Central‐West Asia, East Africa, and North America, causing widespread disruptions to regional hydroclimate and ecosystems. These droughts coincided with an unusually persistent cold state of the tropical Pacific associated with consecutive La Niña events.

Contrasting Mechanisms of Heatwave‐Ozone Pollution Compound Events and Independent Heatwave Events in the Yangtze River Delta

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 11, 16 June 2026.
Abstract Heat waves do not always coincide with ozone pollution, yet the mechanisms controlling their divergence remain insufficiently understood. Here, we investigate why some heat waves evolved into heatwave‐ozone pollution compound events (HWOP), whereas others remained isolated heat wave events (IHW), over the Yangtze River Delta during summer 2024.

Tropical Pacific Variability Drives Quasi‐Decadal Sea Ice Fluctuations Off East Greenland

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 11, 16 June 2026.
Abstract The sea ice off East Greenland exhibits pronounced quasi‐decadal fluctuations superimposed on its long‐term decline. Here we show that this low‐frequency variability is tightly phase‐coherent with tropical Pacific quasi‐decadal variability (TPQD), revealing a teleconnection from the tropics to the Arctic.

A Doherty Power Amplifier with Extended Bandwidth and Reconfigurable Back-off Level [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Emerging wireless standards are designed to be spectrally efficient to address the high cost of licensing wireless spectra. Unfortunately, the resulting signals have a high peak-to-average ratio that reduces the base station power amplifier efficiency at
