Cerebral Dominance in Left-Handed Subjects
Summary In the first part of this study we have compared the frequencies of disturbances of language, gestures, and perception, according to the hemisphere involved, in series of left- and right-handed subjects with verified unilateral lesions (left-handers: 73 cases, 26 with right-sided lesions and 47 with left-sided lesions; right-handers: 487 ...

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Dominant parietal lobe ischaemic stroke presenting as alien hand syndrome
We describe an unusual case of stroke manifesting as alien hand syndrome (AHS) causing sudden onset of abnormal hand movements. The patient reported his left arm would move outside his control and grab things in his surroundings without his conscious ...

Induction of cortical plasticity and improved motor performance following unilateral and bilateral transcranial direct current stimulation of the primary motor cortex [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) is a non-invasive technique that modulates the excitability of neurons within the primary motor cortex (M1). Research shows that anodal-tDCS applied over the non-dominant M1 (i.e.

Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Finger Tapping Outperforms the Traditional Scale in Patients With Peripheral Nerve Damage
Objective: This study aimed to investigate whether there exist the limits of finger tapping frequency in the peripheral nerve injury detection in upper limb, and the effects of rehabilitation treatment on upper limb with peripheral nerve injury through ...

Energy distribution of maxima and minima in a one-dimensional random system
We study the energy distribution of maxima and minima of a simple one-dimensional disordered Hamiltonian. We find that in systems with short range correlated disorder there is energy separation between maxima and minima, such that at fixed energy only ...

Anthropomorphism Index of Mobility for Artificial Hands [PDF]
The increasing development of anthropomorphic artificial hands makes necessary quick metrics that analyze their anthropomorphism. In this study, a human grasp experiment on the most important grasp types was undertaken in order to obtain an ...

Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.
