The Donbas Foldbelt: its relationships with the uninverted Donets segment of the Dniepr–Donets Basin, Ukraine

open access: yesTectonophysics, 1999
The Donbas Foldbelt (DF) is a thrust-faulted and folded, inverted, segment of the Dniepr-Donets Basin (DDB). It lies between the Scythian and East European platforms north of the Black Sea and is conventionally thought to have formed in the Early Permian as part of the late Palaeozoic Hercynian-Uralian orogenic frame of cratonic Europe.

The Donets Basin (Ukraine/Russia): coalification and thermal history [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Coal Geology, 2002
The Donets Basin (Donbas) is one of the major late Paleozoic coal basins in the world. The Donbas Foldbelt is an inverted part of the Donets Basin characterized by WNW-ESE-trending folds and faults. The age of basin inversion is under discussion. Large parts of the Donets Basin host anthracite and meta-anthracite.

Stratigraphy and sequence stratigraphy of the Moscovian in the Donets basin

Tectonophysics, 1996
New results are presented on the stratigraphy based on Fusulinids and Palynomorphs and the sequence stratigraphy of the Moscovian in the Donets basin. They have been developed by comparison of our observations on cross-sections near Artemovsk and the published coal mine logs of Artemovsk Geological Survey.

Ecologically hazardous elements in coals of the Donets Basin

International Journal of Coal Geology, 1999
Abstract The coals from the Donets Basin are widely used in electric power plants (EPP). These, together with air pollutants generated by other industrial enterprises create a hazardous situation in the densely populated region of the Basin. Together with sulfur oxides, nitrogen oxides and solid particulates the emissions contain very toxic, noxious ...

New data on the Carboniferous corals of the Donets Basin

Palaeoworld, 2010
Abstract Additional data are given here on the taxonomic diversity and distribution of the Carboniferous rugose and tabulate corals of the Donets Basin (Ukraine). Keyserlingophyllum obliquum (Keyserling, 1846) was recorded in the Tournaisian part of the section for the first time.

GEOLOGICAL AND GEOTECTONIC UNITY OF THE DONETS BASIN AND THE DNIPROV-DONETS FALLS

Mining Geology & Geoecology, 2022
On the basis of medium-scale mapping of the pre-Mesozoic surface of Donbas and the southeastern part of the DDZ, the use of the results of seismostratigraphic and gravimetric works, the analysis of scientific research, publications and innovative hypotheses, the geological and geotectonic unity of Donbas and the DDZ is substantiated.

Sequence stratigraphy and onlap history of the Donets Basin, Ukraine: Insight into Carboniferous icehouse dynamics

open access: yesPalaeogeography, Palaeoclimatology, Palaeoecology, 2012
The degree to which Permo-Carboniferous cyclothemic successions archive evidence for long-term variations in ice volume during the Late Paleozoic Ice Age is insufficiently resolved. Here we develop the sequence stratigraphy and onlap-offlap history for a

Palaeozoic source rocks in the Dniepr–Donets Basin, Ukraine

Petroleum Geoscience, 2010
ABSTRACT The Dniepr–Donets Basin (DDB) is a major petroleum province in Eastern Europe. In order to understand the regional and stratigraphic distribution of source rocks for the dominantly gas-prone petroleum system, 676 fine-grained rocks from 30 wells were analysed for bulk parameters (total organic carbon (TOC), carbonate, sulphur, RockEval).
