Doppler-free spectroscopy in driven three-level systems

open access: yes, 2004
We demonstrate two techniques for studying the features of three-level systems driven by two lasers (called control and probe), when the transitions are Doppler broadened as in room-temperature vapor.

Missing Transverse-Doppler Effect in Time-Dilation Experiments with High-Speed Ions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Recent experiments with high-speed ions have investigated potential deviations from the time-dilation predicted by special relativity (SR). The main contribution of this article is to show that the SR predictions are matched by the experimental results ...

Sacrificial Biofabrication for Vascularization: Concept, Materials, Technologies, and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Vasculature is indispensable for tissue viability in regenerative medicine. The sacrificial biofabrication enables precise fabrication of vascular channels by using temporary templates that are subsequently removed. This review defines the concept and delves into sacrificial materials, surrounding materials, fabrication technologies, and biomedical ...

Self‐Assembled Inorganic Nanomembrane Tubes: Rolled‐Up Piezoelectrics for Microacoustic Wave‐Based Actuators and Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates a self‐assembly process to generate free‐standing piezoelectric nanomembranes, forming ultracompact microtubular acoustic wave sensors and actuators. The miniaturized 3D piezoelectric platform reported in this work can be applied in telecommunication, energy harvesting, and acoustofluidics. Moreover, the 3D self‐assembly can add

Temporal relation between quiet-Sun transverse fields and the strong flows detected by IMaX/SUNRISE [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Localized strongly Doppler-shifted Stokes V signals were detected by IMaX/SUNRISE. These signals are related to newly emerged magnetic loops that are observed as linear polarization features. We aim to set constraints on the physical nature and causes of

Full‐Domain 3D Digital Twin for Comprehensive Analysis and Validation of Standing Surface Acoustic Wave Generation on LiNbO3 Substrate

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A full‐domain 3D digital twin of a standing surface acoustic wave (SSAW) device on 128° YX LiNbO3 is developed and experimentally validated. The predictive power of the model is confirmed by electrical characterisation and laser Doppler vibrometry measurements, which show excellent agreement with simulations.

Laser Doppler holographic microscopy in transmission: application to fish embryo imaging

open access: yes, 2014
We have extended Laser Doppler holographic microscopy to transmission geometry. The technique is validated with living fish embryos imaged by a modified upright bio-microcope.
