Abstract Lambing records from 1984 to 1989 comprising 699 ewe lambing years were used. Ewes were exposed to three fixed 30-d joining periods/yr to lamb during February/March (first season), June/July (second season) and October/November (third season). Number of ewes lambed/ewes joined/yr was 0.85, and the number of lambs born/ewe joined/yr was 1.21.
