Elucidating prognostic significance of purine metabolism in colorectal cancer through integrating data from transcriptomic, immunohistochemical, and single‐cell RNA sequencing analysis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low expression of five purine metabolism‐related genes (ADSL, APRT, ADCY3, NME3, NME6) was correlated with poor survival in colorectal cancer. Immunohistochemistry analysis showed that low NME3 (early stage) and low ADSL/NME6 (late stage) levels were associated with high risk.

Exploration of heterogeneity and recurrence signatures in hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study leveraged public datasets and integrative bioinformatic analysis to dissect malignant cell heterogeneity between relapsed and primary HCC, focusing on intercellular communication, differentiation status, metabolic activity, and transcriptomic profiles.

Effects of staff education and standardizing dosing and collection times on vancomycin trough appropriateness in ward patients

open access: yesPharmacy Practice, 2017
Background: Many institutions have guidelines for initiation and monitoring, but not timing, of vancomycin. Objective: Our objective was to evaluate vancomycin trough collection appropriateness before and after an initiative to change the dosing and ...

Comparing self‐reported race and genetic ancestry for identifying potential differentially methylated sites in endometrial cancer: insights from African ancestry proportions using machine learning models

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Integrating ancestry, differential methylation analysis, and machine learning, we identified robust epigenetic signature genes (ESGs) and Core‐ESGs in Black and White women with endometrial cancer. Core‐ESGs (namely APOBEC1 and PLEKHG5) methylation levels were significantly associated with survival, with tumors from high African ancestry (THA) showing ...

Clinical Models to Compare the Safety and Efficacy of Inhaled Corticosteroids in Patients with Asthma

open access: yesCanadian Respiratory Journal, 2003
There is no consensus on the methods to compare the clinical efficacy of different inhaled corticosteroids. A comparison needs to be made in terms of relative potency, and studies should include two-, or preferably, three-dose comparisons.

Time course of bone mineral density changes with denosumab compared with other drugs in postmenopausal osteoporosis: a dose-response-based meta-analysis.

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, 2014
OBJECTIVE Our objective was to compare the time course of bone mineral density (BMD) changes at the lumbar spine (LS) and total hip (TH) in postmenopausal women during treatment with denosumab, bisphosphonates, selective estrogen receptor modulators, PTH,

ShcD adaptor protein drives invasion of triple negative breast cancer cells by aberrant activation of EGFR signaling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identified adaptor protein ShcD as upregulated in triple‐negative breast cancer and found its expression to be correlated with reduced patient survival and increased invasion in cell models. Using a proteomic screen, we identified novel ShcD binding partners involved in EGFR signaling pathways.

Cardiac toxicity of Triptergium wilfordii Hook F. may correlate with its inhibition to hERG channel

open access: yesHeliyon, 2019
Tripterygium wilfordii Hook F. (TWHF) is a Chinese traditional medicine with cardiac toxicities. However, the mechanism of acute cardiac toxicity is not very clear.
