Investigating transcription factor dynamics in health and disease using FRAP

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
FRAP analysis of GFP‐tagged transcription factors reveals how molecular mobility and target engagement change in response to drug treatment. By combining live‐cell imaging, quantitative model fitting, and statistical analysis, this approach uncovers transcription factor dynamics linked to disease mechanisms, providing a powerful framework for ...

An epithelial GPR35 isoform supports tumor‐associated transcriptional and metabolic phenotypes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
GPR35 generates two functionally distinct isoforms with previously unresolved roles. GPR35‐short mediates immune‐cell chemotaxis, while GPR35‐long is enriched in colorectal cancer epithelium, where it supports increased metabolism, proliferation, and tumor‐associated transcriptional programs.

Comparing Radiation Doses in CBCT and Medical CT Imaging for Dental Applications

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Bioallied Sciences
BackgroundDental imaging plays a crucial role in diagnosis and treatment planning, with cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) and medical computed tomography (CT) being two common modalities.

Diagnostic Reference Levels in Interventional Pediatric Cardiology: Two-Year Experience in a Tertiary Referral Hospital in Latin America

open access: yesChildren, 2023
The goal of the present study was to propose the first local diagnostic reference levels (DRLs) for interventional pediatric cardiology procedures in a large hospital in Colombia. The data collection period was from April 2020 to July 2022.

A simple method to retrospectively estimate patient dose-area product for chest tomosynthesis examinations performed using VolumeRAD.

open access: yesMedical Physics (Lancaster), 2014
PURPOSE The purpose of the present work was to develop and validate a method of retrospectively estimating the dose-area product (DAP) of a chest tomosynthesis examination performed using the VolumeRAD system (GE Healthcare, Chalfont St.

Engineering peptides into antibodies—opportunities and strategies for therapeutic innovation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Peptides and antibodies occupy complementary therapeutic niches. Peptides recognize difficult targets in a compact format, while antibodies add specificity, long half‐life, and effector functions. This review examines strategies that merge both modalities—peptide grafting into loops, terminal and Fc fusions, and bioconjugation—highlighting how ...

Optimization and audit of radiation dose during percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty

open access: yesJournal of Medical Physics, 2007
The percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) is one of the interventional procedures which impart high radiation doses to patients compared to the other cardiologic procedures. This study intends to audit and optimize radiation dose imparted

Patient Peak Skin Dose and Dose Area Product from Interventional Cardiology Procedures

open access: yes, 2015
Information about the peak skin dose and Dose Area product (DAP) from percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) and coronary angiography (CA) was collected from three catheter application rooms. The range of maximum photon energy was 50 - 125

Liver organoids: modelling complexity in homeostasis and disease

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Studying liver in vitro has been challenging because simple 2D cell cultures fail to capture liver's cellular and architectural complexity. To bridge this gap, scientists increasingly use organoids, 3D liver models which better mimic liver composition and function. This review examines recent advances in liver organoid complexity and realism, discusses

Dose-area product reduction through a practice implementing low frame rate fluoroscopy and increased collimation during single-vessel percutaneous coronary interventions

open access: yesRadiation Protection and Environment
This study aims to investigate the impact of lowering fluoroscopic frame rate and increasing collimation on dose area product (DAP) during single-vessel percutaneous coronary interventions.
