AAPM's TG-51 protocol for clinical reference dosimetry of high-energy photon and electron beams.

open access: yesMedical Physics (Lancaster), 1999
A protocol is prescribed for clinical reference dosimetry of external beam radiation therapy using photon beams with nominal energies between 60Co and 50 MV and electron beams with nominal energies between 4 and 50 MeV.

Visualizing and Quantifying Impact with Mechanochromic Sensing Paints Based on Self‐Assembled Polydiacetylene‐Silk Core‐Shell Vesicles

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Tracking physical impacts is important in many fields. Self‐assembled microparticles made from polydiacetylene and silk fibroin that change color from blue to red when hit can provide an alternative approach to traditional mechanical transducers, quantitatively visualizing impact with responses ranging from <100 to 770 N.

Photonuclear Population of 229m,gTh in Th‐Doped Crystals Toward Nuclear Clock Development

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates a novel photonuclear approach for producing the nuclear clock isomer 229mTh in thorium‐doped crystals, overcoming current supply limitations. Through cross‐section calculations and Monte Carlo simulations, we identify optimal crystal materials and irradiation conditions, achieving high signal‐to‐noise ratios.

Decontamination of equipment with oil and gas NORM: the need for internal individual monitoring

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Radiation Sciences
In the oil field, Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material - NORM is present in petroleum-forming rocks and this is related to the presence of radioactive decay series of 238U and 232Th, mainly the daughter radionuclides 226Ra and 228Ra.

Tb3+‐Doped Glass‐Ceramic Scintillating Plates and Fibers for X‐Ray Imaging and Flexible Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A Tb3+‐doped glass‐ceramic scintillator, with controlled Ba2GdF7 nanocrystal precipitation, was developed through a rational design strategy guided by phase diagrams and molecular dynamics simulations. The obtained material exhibits a high light yield of 41 800 photons/MeV (418%/BGO), a spatial resolution of 25.3 lp/mm, and exceptional thermal ...

Computation of the electron beam quality $k_{{\rm Q,Q}_0}$ factors for the NE2571, NE2571A and NE2581A thimble ionization chambers using PENELOPE

open access: yes, 2017
The quality correction factor $k_{Q,Q_{0}}$ for electron beams was calculated for three thimble ionization chambers, namely, NE2571, NE2571A and NE2581A.

Highly Efficient Extraction of 212 Pb/212Bi from the Decay Chain of 232Th‐Based on Anion Exchange in Bromide Medium

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work provides an effective strategy for selectively extracting 212Pb and 212Bi from the decay chain of 232Th as well as its mechanism illustration. Using the novel strategy, 2.07 MBq of 212Pb is successfully separated from 232Th and its daughters, which enables the supply of 212Pb/212Bi directly from the abundant natural thorium resource to be ...
