Comparative Assessment of the Effects of Dotinurad and Febuxostat on the Renal Function in Chronic Kidney Disease Patients With Hyperuricemia [PDF]
Scientific ReportsAlthough hyperuricemia is associated with chronic kidney disease (CKD), the impact of uric acid (UA)-lowering drugs on CKD has been controversial.

A Possible Therapeutic Application of the Selective Inhibitor of Urate Transporter 1, Dotinurad, for Metabolic Syndrome, Chronic Kidney Disease, and Cardiovascular Disease [PDF]
CellsThe reabsorption of uric acid (UA) is mainly mediated by urate transporter 1 (URAT1) and glucose transporter 9 (GLUT9) in the kidneys. Dotinurad inhibits URAT1 but does not inhibit other UA transporters, such as GLUT9, ATP-binding cassette transporter G2

Real-World Effectiveness and Safety of Dotinurad in Chinese Patients with Gout: A Comparative Analysis [PDF]
Drugs - Real World OutcomesBackground Dotinurad, a novel selective uric acid (UA) reabsorption inhibitor, exerts its hypouricemic effect through the selective inhibition of urate transporter 1 (URAT1).

Urate Transporter 1 Can Be a Therapeutic Target Molecule for Chronic Kidney Disease and Diabetic Kidney Disease: A Retrospective Longitudinal Study [PDF]
Biomedicines, 2023 Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a major global health problem for which there are no curative drug treatments. Hyperuricemia is one of risk factors for CKD.

URAT1 is expressed in cardiomyocytes and dotinurad attenuates the development of diet-induced metabolic heart disease [PDF]
iScience, 2023 Summary: We recently reported that the selective inhibition of urate transporter-1 (URAT1), which is primarily expressed in the kidneys, ameliorates insulin resistance by attenuating hepatic steatosis and improving brown adipose tissue function in diet ...

URAT1 inhibition in hyperuricemia and gout: from transporter biology to clinical precision therapy [PDF]
Frontiers in ImmunologyImpaired renal urate excretion is a major mechanism underlying hyperuricemia and gout, with urate transporter 1 (URAT1), encoded by SLC22A12, playing a central role in proximal tubular urate reabsorption.

Switching from febuxostat to dotinurad, a novel selective urate reabsorption inhibitor, may substantially reduce serum urate levels, through URAT1 inhibition, potentially without adversely affecting ABCG2 function: findings from the SWITCH SURI study [PDF]
Frontiers in EndocrinologyBackgroundDotinurad is a novel selective urate transporter 1 (URAT1) inhibitor recently introduced in Japan. This study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of dotinurad in hyperuricemic patients with type 2 diabetic kidney disease by comparing serum

Clinical effects of a selective urate reabsorption inhibitor dotinurad in patients with hyperuricemia and treated hypertension: a multicenter, prospective, exploratory study (DIANA) [PDF]
European Journal of Medical Research, 2023 Introduction Dotinurad is a newer urate-lowering agent that selectively inhibits urate transporter 1 in the renal proximal tubule and increases urinary urate excretion.
