Amino Acid-Pillared Layered Double Hydroxide and Montmorillonite Thermal Characteristics
Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry, 1999Zn-Al hydrotalcite (HT) and Na-montmorillonite (Na-mont) were pillared by the deprotonated and the protonated forms of L-tyrosine, respectively. Pillaring was successful as the increased basal spacings due to intercalation attest. L-Tyr-HT proved to be thermally less stabile than HT, while that of L-Tyr-mont did not change compared to Na-mont.

Amino acid functionalization of double-wall carbon nanotubes studied by Raman spectroscopy
Chemical Communications, 2007Double-wall carbon nanotubes (DWNT) have been functionalized with lysine after a strong oxidation with MnO4- in acid solution which, as suggested by the Raman spectra, attacked the external nanotube of the DWNT.

Delamination of Layered Double Hydroxides Containing Amino Acids
Chemistry of Materials, 2004Various amino acids were intercalated into Mg−Al layered double hydroxides (LDHs) as interlayer anions. The goal of this approach was to create an interlayer environment that was attractive to formamide, because of hydrogen bonding, so that penetration of formamide would lead to delamination.

Intramolecular Double Proton Transfer from 2-Hydroxy-2-iminoacetic Acid to 2-Amino-2-oxoacetic Acid
The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2010The double intramolecular proton transfer process which transforms 2-hydroxy-2-iminoacetic acid into 2-amino-2-oxoacetic acid is analyzed. The MP2 and DFT calculations were performed for different tautomers and conformers of these species. Pople style (6-311++G(d,p), 6-311++G(3df,3pd)) and Dunning type (aug-cc-pVTZ) basis sets were applied.

Experimental Investigations of Amino Acid-Layered Double Hydroxide Complexes: Glutamate−Hydrotalcite
Chemistry of Materials, 2006XRD, TGA−DTA, compositional analyses, and 13C NMR data for hydrotalcite (HT) intercalated with the amino acid glutamic acid (GA) provide a detailed picture of the effects of synthesis pH, synthesis...

Direct Intercalation of Amino Acids into Layered Double Hydroxides by Coprecipitation
Journal of Solid State Chemistry, 2001Abstract First, the direct intercalation of amino acids into various layered double hydroxides (Mg–Al, Mn–Al, Ni–Al, Zn–Al, and Zn–Cr LDHs) by coprecipitation has been investigated using phenylalanine (Phe) as a guest amino acid. The degree of Phe coprecipitation was strongly influenced by the solution pH and kind of LDH system and reached a maximum ...

Study of double and triple simultaneous substitutions of amino acids in cytochromes C
Journal of Molecular Evolution, 1975A statistical analysis aimed at obtaining some informations on a possible correlation between simultaneous amino acid substitutions is proposed. This method is applied to a set of cytochrome C, at the level of tandem and triple substitutions separated along the peptide chain by 1 to 15 peptide bonds.

A right handed peptide helix containing a central double d-amino acid segment
Chemical Communications, 2002The crystal structure of the 13 residue peptide Boc-Leu-Aib-Val-Ala-Leu-Aib-Val-DAla-DLeu-Aib-Leu-Aib-Val-OMe reveals a continuous helical conformation providing an unambiguous characterization of contiguous D-residues in a right handed peptide helix.

Biological and surface-active properties of double-chain cationic amino acid-based surfactants
Amino Acids, 2014Cationic amino acid-based surfactants were synthesized via solid phase peptide synthesis and terminal acylation of their α and ε positions with saturated fatty acids. Five new lipopeptides, N-α-acyl-N-ε-acyl lysine analogues, were obtained. Minimum inhibitory concentration and minimum bactericidal (fungicidal) concentration were determined on reference

Synthesis of bis(α-amino acids) by palladium-catalyzed allylic double substitution
Tetrahedron Letters, 1995Abstract The reaction of lithium enolate derived from benzophenone imine of glycine ethyl ester 1 with allylic dihalides 2 in the presence of a catalytic amount of Pd(Ph 3 ) 4 (5% mol) affords the corresponding bis(imino esters) 3 . Subsequent hydrolysis of compounds 3 gives the corresponding bis (α-amino acids) 4 .
