Critical Response of Nonlinear Base-Isolated Building Considering Soil-Structure Interaction Under Double Impulse as Substitute for Near-Fault Ground Motion

open access: yesFrontiers in Built Environment, 2018
The critical nonlinear response considering soil-structure interaction is investigated for a base-isolated building under a double impulse as a substitute for near-fault earthquake ground motions.

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Double Ventricular Responses Leading to Reversible Cardiomyopathy as Late Complication after Slow-Pathway Ablation

open access: yesCase Reports in Cardiology, 2015
Double ventricular response is a rare arrhythmia that results from simultaneous antegrade conduction over the fast and slow pathways of AV node. Double ventricular responses may lead to arrhythmia-related cardiomyopathy.

Modulating Electrochemical CO2 Reduction Pathways via Interfacial Electric Field

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Engineering interfacial electric fields in Cu/ITO electrodes enables precise control of CO2 reduction pathways. Charge transfer from Cu to ITO generates positively charged Cu species that steer selectivity from ethylene toward methane. This work demonstrates how interfacial electric‐field modulation can direct reaction intermediates and transform ...

Impulse Shaping Method Based on Bayesian Deconvolution

open access: yesYuanzineng kexue jishu
A novel impulse shaping method based on Bayesian deconvolution as a means of enhancing the energy range of the energy spectrum was proposed. The initial step of this method entailed expressing the measured pulse signal as the convolution of the current ...

Study on the optimisation of the end fittings of the DC disconnector

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
The disconnector is the key electrical equipment in DC field. In China, the ±1100 kV DC project uses the indoor DC field, where the switching impulse withstand voltage of the disconnector influences the clearance a lot.

Host‐Directed Biomaterials for Combatting Bloodstream Infections: From Macrocyclic Peptides to Immune‐Activating Cell Backpacks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bloodstream infections (BSI) are one of the leading causes of mortality and morbidity in both civilian and military populations. This paper summarizes recent progress in novel treatment strategies to manage BSI arising from both bacterial and fungal pathogens using molecules, particles, and materials to elicit host‐directed immunity.

A Large Aperture UWB Antenna Array for Real Beam Radar Imaging

open access: yesInternational Journal of Antennas and Propagation, 2012
The development of four-element ultra-wideband (UWB) comb taper slot antenna array with 18 cm element spacing for real beam radar imaging is described. The four-element UWB array system with optimum element spacing is analyzed by energy pattern.

Replication of period-doubling route to chaos in impulsive systems

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations, 2019
Summary: In this study, we investigate the dynamics of impulsive systems driven by a chaotic system. It is shown that the response impulsive system replicates the sensitivity and the period-doubling cascade of the drive. Illustrative examples that support the theoretical results are provided.

Smart, Bio‐Inspired Polymers and Bio‐Based Molecules Modified by Zwitterionic Motifs to Design Next‐Generation Materials for Medical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bio‐based and (semi‐)synthetic zwitterion‐modified novel materials and fully synthetic next‐generation alternatives show the importance of material design for different biomedical applications. The zwitterionic character affects the physiochemical behavior of the material and deepens the understanding of chemical interaction mechanisms within the ...
