Processing of metals by double pulses with short laser pulses

Applied Physics A, 2005
Experimental results related to the influence of time delayed pulses for ablation efficiency with short multi pulses (pulse duration of 5 ps) are reported. A significant improvement of the micro structuring quality at relatively high fluence regime in metals is obtained.

Dual-Reference Holographic Interferometry With A Double Pulsed Laser

SPIE Proceedings, 1987
Dual-reference holographic interferometry is applied to transient deformation phenomena with a double pulsed laser. Automated interpretation of the interfering pattern of two reconstructed images produced by the double exposure hologram is achieved with a precision of lambda/35.

Simulation of Double-Pulse Laser Ablation

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2010
We investigate the physical reasons of a strange decrease in the ablation depth observed in femtosecond double‐pulse experiments with increasing delay between the pulses. Two ultrashort pulses of the same energy produce the crater which is less than that created by a single pulse.

Double pulse laser wakefield accelerator

Physics Letters A, 2007
Two-dimensional simulation studies are performed for modified laser wakefield acceleration. After one laser pulse, another identical laser pulse is sent to the plasma to amplify the wake wave resonantly. The simulation results show that the number of injected electrons is bigger than that of the single pulse case and the beam energy is higher as well ...

Double chirped-pulse-amplification laser: a way to clean pulses temporally

Optics Letters, 2005
We demonstrate a double chirped-pulse-amplification (CPA) Ti: sapphire laser system that includes two CPA stages with intermediate nonlinear temporal pulse filtering. The method makes it possible to reduce substantially the background of amplified spontaneous emission (ASE), including prepulses and postpulses.

Double-pulse laser based on a semiconductor optical amplifier

Applied Optics, 2015
In this paper, a double-pulse laser with a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) is proposed. By adjusting the polarization controller, we observe double pulses with repetition frequencies of 10.05 and 12.70 MHz and pulse widths of 33.40 and 30.13 ns, respectively. The laser consists of a SOA asymmetrically placed in a short fiber loop.

Electronic shear interferometry: application of a (double-) pulsed laser

Applied Optics, 1993
The use of a double-pulsed laser in interferometric metrology relaxes the stability requirements for the experimental setup. The use of such a laser also makes it possible for one to study high-speed dynamic processes. We justify the use of a double-pulsed laser in electronic shear interferometry. We show how image subtraction can be applied to produce

Double nanosecond pulses generation in ytterbium fiber laser

Review of Scientific Instruments, 2016
Double pulse generation mode for nanosecond ytterbium fiber laser was developed. Two sequential 60-200 ns laser pulses with variable delay between them were generated by acousto-optic modulator opening with continuous diode pumping. A custom radio frequency generator was developed to produce two sequential “opening” radio pulses with a delay of 0.2–1 ...

Efficient Laser Drilling with Double-Pulse Laser Processing

2008
A significant improvement of drilling efficiency is observed in laser drilling thin steel plate with double-pulse laser technique. The laser used in the experiment is a 1047 nm Q-switched laser with pulse duration of 21 ns and interpulse separation of 52 ns.
