Capacitance of carbon-based electrical double-layer capacitors [PDF]
Experimental electrical double-layer capacitances of porous carbon electrodes fall below ideal values, thus limiting the practical energy densities of carbon-based electrical double-layer capacitors. Here we investigate the origin of this behaviour by measuring the electrical double-layer capacitance in one to five-layer graphene.

Interfacial structure and double layer capacitance of ionic liquids [PDF]
Ionic liquids are organic salts that are in liquid phase at room temperature. Their wide liquidus range, particularly at room temperature, results from the liquids’ large and asymmetric molecular geometry. This leads to a collection of unique properties, such as, high ionic strength, extremely low vapor pressure, wide electrochemical window, and high ...

Electric double-layer capacitance between an ionic liquid and few-layer graphene [PDF]
Ionic-liquid gates have a high carrier density due to their atomically thin electric double layer (EDL) and extremely large geometrical capacitance Cg. However, a high carrier density in graphene has not been achieved even with ionic-liquid gates because the EDL capacitance CEDL between the ionic liquid and graphene involves the series connection of Cg

Electric double layer capacitance on hierarchical porous carbons in an organic electrolyte [PDF]
Nanoporous carbons were prepared by using colloidal crystal as a template. Nitrogen adsorption/desorption isotherms and transmission electron microscope images revealed that the porous carbons exhibit hierarchical porous structures with meso/macropores ...
