The effect of film thickness and counter ions on the double layer and redox capacitance of polyaniline thin film electrode [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials Chemistry and Physics, 2002
The high and low frequency capacitances of polyaniline electrode in different acid medium were analyzed as a function of counter ions, redox states and film thickness.

Double layer capacitance of anode/solid-electrolyte interfaces

Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, 2011
The double layer of electrode/electrolyte interfaces plays a fundamental role in determining the performance of solid state electrochemical cells. The double layer capacitance is one of the most-studied descriptors of the double layer. This work examines a case study on lanthanum strontium vanadate (LSV)/yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) interfaces ...

A new model of the differential capacitance of the double layer

Journal of Electroanalytical Chemistry, 1983
Abstract We present a new model of the metal-electrolyte interface which takes explicit account of the mobility of electrons at a metallic interface. The model can be described as a simple modification of the classical Stern-Gouy-Chapman double layer theory, but it contains an essential new feature of fundamentally quantum mechanical origin.

An Electrochemical Cell with Capacitance-Enhanced Double Layer

ECS Transactions, 2007
Initial studies on the fabrication of a new double-layer capacitor based on hydrated ruthenium oxide (RuO2.xH2O) are presented. The electrochemical capacitor cell is based on three designs approaches: active surface enhancement via corrugations, the use of an ultra-thin self assembled dielectric implemented with hydrated Ruthenium oxide and ...

Theory of Double-Layer Differential Capacitance in Electrolytes

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1962
A theory of the double layer in uni-univalent unadsorbed electrolytes is developed and used to analyze Grahame's experimental measurements of differential capacitance for NaF in water at 0° to 85°C and KF in methanol at 25°C. Excellent agreement with experiment is obtained except in the region of strong anodic polarization; this disagreement is ...

Kramers-Kronig transformation of double-layer capacitances

Surface Technology, 1980
Abstract Experimental capacitance data of some mercury/electrolyte contacts were transformed into resistances, losses and spectral densities by application of two different numerical methods of Kramers-Kronig transformation. The first method is based upon a direct integration and the second one upon a Fourier series expansion.

Total double layer capacitances of oxide suspensions

Materials Chemistry and Physics, 1989
Abstract Capacitances obtained by differentiation of experimental charge vs pH curves are presented for hematite suspensions both in NaClO4and in KNO3. The adsorption features of the two electrolytes are discussed comparing the variation of the experimental capacitance with that expected on the Stern — Gouy Chapman theory.
