Dowel action is a well-known phenomenon in shear-related problems within structural concrete. The tests previously reported in the literature to evaluate this contribution in reinforced concrete beams without shear reinforcement were conducted without any initial activation of the tensile reinforcement. This paper presents the experimental results of ...

Reintroduction of an Endangered Butterfly, the Mottled Duskywing (Erynnis martialis)
We reintroduced Mottled Duskywing (Erynnis martialis), an endangered skipper butterfly, at different life‐stages to restored oak savanna habitat in Ontario, Canada and then performed intensive post‐release monitoring. Our results show that, at one of three sites, a population was established within two years of initiating releases and that pupae and ...

Abstract The presence of vegetation in aquatic environments alters hydrodynamics and sediment resuspension. A recent paradigm has suggested that turbulent kinetic energy (TKE) serves as a better predictor of sediment transport in aquatic canopies than bed shear stress.

Question the Mark: A Review and Assessment of Bat Marking Practices
We reviewed a decade of research on bats and conducted a broader systematic review to assess the nature of bat marking practices and the effects and efficacy of marks. Effects of marks on bats, mark details and marking procedures are rarely reported and further research on the effects of marks on bats and more thorough reporting are needed.

Does instrumentation and irrigation configuration affect intrarenal pressure during PCNL?
Abstract Objectives To measure the effects of varying configurations of nephroscope sheath, irrigation, instruments, and suction on intrarenal pressure (IRP) during percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL). Materials and Methods Kidney and ureter 3D printed models from a deidentified patient's CT scan were placed in a plaster and foam mould, simulating the ...
